What do you think is "wrong" with League?

I think it's a few things but some of the big ones are stuff like the game is old, the game is "too big"

With regards to the old part, this comes up in a couple ways. The game is old, thus players who have stuck with it are (in theory) going to have a lot more skill then newer players. No one likes playing with a random person who appears to have next to no idea how the game / their champion works. The game is old, thus some people will have just grown out of it. You can't expect everyone to be invested in the same thing forever. The game is old thus certain "fun" aspects from the olden days are gone. Where they really fun or where they just products of their time, the kind of stuff that if reintroduced would fail because no one wants it back they just want their golden perfect memories of the thing.

The game is "too big" Riot keeps making new champions, updating old champions, new items, updating / changing runes. Imagine for a second that the game had only 30 champions. Imagine how much easier it would be to balance everything when you only have to account for 1/4 of the current roster. Want to introduce a new champion, lets hope they tested how they fit into the game. That means test how the passive functions against AND with every other champion (don't want to find out the new support is meh with 90% of the champions but some how Rammus and Heimerdinger are 1000% broken with them around). Repeat process with all 3 basic abilities and once more with ultimate.... don't forget to then figure in items. Imagine if items were not a thing, if champions where designed to function entirely around their kit. You want to introduce a new item into the game, better test how EVERY champion works with it and in some cases how EVERY other existing item can combo with it.

(going to update this further but got work to go to)

What do I think is wrong with League? The company that runs it, and their obsession with money before all else.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I don’t see any.

also it's old. it'd have died out long ago without all that content being vomited out on a regular basis but it's starting to catch up to it and I make all my comments before reading the post and pretend that I read them.

That's not what their sales volume says. (Even now their revenue is increasing).

It may be old, but it's also always new. New players, new champions, reworks, which change the balance almost weekly. But furthermore, it's addictive. Most banned people even come back, and spend again on skins just to feel comfortable after a ban. Riot doesn't make $2.1-$2.4 BILLION off ONE GAME because the game is anything like failing.

Keep in mind most games aren't even hitting $30 million revenue annually.

this weird crusade against stats, when people don't realize that loading everything with conditions or turning everything into skillshots has probably done more harm to the game in the long run.

over-abundance of CC severely limiting what you can play viably and requiring an over-tuning of the champs who are forced to interact with it the most

This is true. A lot of people don't have the patience because of how long the game has been out to reach a hand out and teach a new player. This only further creates a toxic environment that does not foster learning the game.

The game is old, thus some people will have just grown out of it. You can't expect everyone to be invested in the same thing forever. A lot of the fun is going to be rose tinted anyways as are most things. We as humans yearn for the "glory days" despite them not actually being any better than now. People complain about the new metas, but we had the same broken stuff in Season 2 and 3 as we do in season 7 and 8.

The game is "too big" Riot keeps making new champions, updating old champions, new items, updating / changing runes.

Things need to be updated to keep things fresh.

Imagine for a second that the game had only 30 champions. Imagine how much easier it would be to balance everything when you only have to account for 1/4 of the current roster.

It would make the game incredibly dull. People complain about only seeing the same 5-6 champions in each role, but this would only further exacerbate the issue.

If I had to guess about one specific thing being a problem for the state of the game, it would be that as players have gotten much better, the game has not done enough to become more challenging. I don't mean this on a mechanical level, but on a macro level. We have seen a lot of objectives become easier to take. Because of the increased experience amongst the players, it is easier to punish for mistakes. When mistakes are easier to punish and the important objectives are easier to do at the same time, it means you cannot afford to make mistakes.

Imagine they gave Varus new voice lines because of his updated lore... that'd be so good...

Balance decisions arent made in a smart manner. ( The ignite buffs were 100% unjustified because they also nerfed heal in the same patch yet used heal as the reason to buff ignite ?? )

Buffing Kha and Rengar despite seeing success shows you how blind Riots balance team is. Kha has to be the most frustrating Jungler to fight yet they dont play their own game so they dont see it.

AP itemization gives AP champs too much survivability. I constantly see AP champs walking around with 3k health late game.

Janna and Warwick not being addressed.

Champs like Irelia and Aatrox being addressed over Pantheon and Nunu for Vgus.

The creation of Zoe.

Junglers constantly camping a lane with 0 punishment because catch up exp. Junglers should not have a bigger impact than laners on their lane.

Losing tower because you died once.

Baron being too easy to take.

Jhins guinsoos not being fixed. Getting hit for 1200+ is beyond frustrating.

This is wrong with league. Riot prefers balancing the game for the LCS to keep viewers entertained over balancing to keep their actual playerbase entertained. I upvoted his post because he explained their reasoning in a sound and logic way but that doesn't mean I agree with this balancing philosophy or even call it reasonable from a player-point of view

Not enough alternative game modes to choose from. No Crystal Scar mode. Too much time and resources spent on SR and competitive play, rather than making a fun experience for everyone to enjoy.

Nearly every patch throws older players under the bus in some way.
