Is this the beginning of the end?

This is not a QQ thread, it's an honest though / concern. I played WoW for a long time. Loved vanilla. But as expansion packs came out, things become so outlandish and busted it became almost impossible to balance.

I'm afraid I'm seeing the same thing with League. Every single new champ has a kit that is so overloaded, or has massive % health, etc., that it's frustrating and unfun to play against. These new masteries and items have made certain champs completely useless while propelling others to a brokenness that reminds me of release reksai.

In an effort to keep the game 'fresh' and it's player base engaged, is Riot slowly breaking it's own game to a point of no return?

Honestly ever since a Certain rioTer was hired League has been going down hill, and its been going down hill even faster lately.

I think if League has survived all the other retardedly broken things in the past, it'll survive this, too. Let's not get carried away. I dislike the preseason right now, but I hate their trend of mobility far, far more.

the game has never been this broken. Even league of cleavers or warmogs, release Xin Zhao, release LeBlanc, release Zyra. The reason is simple: none of these fundamentally affected the relationship between the classes or the pace of the game, gold income or were bannable champs.

Right now jungle gold income is trash, entire classes are trash and there are too many champs over 55% win rate (on the level of release reworked Skarner) to be banned.

welcome to preseason, but the game is still playable, draft is nice, just ban the 5 most op champs :l also, the game is much much nicer!! I love most the changes. The game has been way more broken, we just never had this many people QQ about it, you don't have to play, :l and with that attitude, i'd rather you not, just hide in customs tell every thing is fixed. or even try out some other games, you wont find much more balanced games...

Probably.

I'm not sure but I think riot is going to end up doing this to every champ. This will make them all over powered. But since they all are it will be balanced but with higher damage done. I think it's the beginning of a new league and I love it

Played Vanilla WoW also... and honestly got super bored... Outlands were amazing SST and TTK were the content I always wanted - loved the raids. Lich King came out and BLEW MY MIND. Then Cata... was poop, then Pandas were poop and I never went back. But that was 7 years of play and if I play league that long I think they can consider it a huge success.

TL;DR All games have their day in the sun then drop off for the next big thing - League won't be immune, but not innovating is what makes your content stale.

Evolution works because it doesn't throw away the sub-optimal, keeping its options broad and wide. The only case where things would be removed is when they're constantly useless or gets in the way for millions of years on end, which is very justifiable.

What Riot is doing with LoL is not evolution, it's merely changing from 1 game to the other. Is it a great thing? Possibly, considering there are successful games that are a result of genre tweak/change, Halo and WoW are good examples.

However, most genre changes for other titles are done from game to game, while for LoL the changes are delivered through patches. Meaning, for those people who may not like the genre change in other games, they can just stay the keep playing the order titles they like, while for LoL players, you don't have a choice but to either take it or leave it.

Then as for me, I think what they're doing with LoL is garbage, and has been killing this game slowly for a rather long time. But that's just me.

I dont think the game is going much anywhere, the amount of players have not even dropped at all, its only gone up, even now... but some changes are annoying, but they are going to fix it, not like they want to have a bad game :l

The LoL now and then have very different focus. Then it's really about team, now it's about individuals, which is why so many overloaded champs are introduced lately, because it wants to promote the "I carry" or "muh plays" mentality.

The balance then and now are equally trash, and Riot has not done much to improve in this particular category. They still haven't realised that balancing the game objectively and fairly according to the highest level of play is NOT elitist like they thought it would be, and frankly should stop balancing the game according to their whatever biased policy they're applying.
