Annie is the best assassin in the game.

Zerenza··13 votes·1,529 views

All she has to do is click on anyone with less than 2000 health and her Q will instantly delete them. Not only that but there is absolutely ZERO counter play to it. All you can do is run away from her.

I don't know if this is a problem or not but it sure as hell feels like it when she can one shot an entire team when everyone is at level 18 and all have full build OH and did i mention that this all while only having 400 AP? Yeah, the rest is tank stats. So bullshit.

Honestly Annie delivers on the theme of assassination better than Talon

Due to her lack of mobility, she can't just run straight at her target try to stab them in the face. She needs to be sneaky, flanking her target and waiting for their escape routes to be cut off before closing for the kill.

...

Or she just goes item 3092 summoner 4 item 3152 and jumps at your face like some drunken brozerker Olaf

Exactly, maybe in the assassin rework riot will make all the assassins just like annie since she's so much better than all of them.

An assassin's job is to take out priority targets in the back line, something annie cannot reliably do without flash.

Zerenza1 votes

Pssst protobelt. It has just enough range to get over a wall and fk up your squishy backline who can't do anything because they'll be stunned.

You mean that wall it can't get through? That it doesn't let you through

Zerenza1 votes

Apparently it does cause she fkin did it XD And i watched her do it.

The 2nd Horseman4 votes

Then she flashed. That's a summoner spell on a five minute cooldown.

FiddlesOnTheRoof1 votes

Protobelt can't get through any walls.

Deadly Mittens1 votes

And their method for getting to the backline is identical to Irelia JarvanIV Jax Charge your opponent head on and kill them.

Flavor wise, how is charging your opponent head on like an assassin trying to sneak up on their prey?

Did you know that Ekko's Q-E at level 6 (landing both hits of Q) does about the same damage than Annie's full combo?

Ekko's Q-E does a total of 361 damage at level 6 (only the 1 autoattack for his passive) plus a 200% AP Ratio Annie's combo does 370 + 230% AP ratio before any bear autos

Of course Ekko has access to that combo starting at level 2, and can spam it multiple times a minute on the enemy laner.

Annie's damage is not particularly high. It's just reasonably reliable with Flash.

General Levi5 votes

Annie also has no way to catch up to you outside of flash, so...

Zerenza1 votes

You see here's the problem i have, ekko is actually an assassin. Annie isn't supposed to be, the fact she does just as much damage as him is kind of stupid because he has skill shots and she has maybe one skillshot, that's stupid when you consider, her stun is on her Passive so she just clicks on you and you die because you can't do anything about it. Ekko's whole kit is skillshots except his E, you can dodge an ekko, you can run from an ekko. You can't run from an annie.

Edit: Like literally her burst is so much more reliable than any other assassin so why even have assassins if you can have annie.

Sukishoo4 votes

item 3152 was something people started using inorder to catch when flash was down.

Evewynn6 votes

Are all burst champs assassins now? Isn't one of the requirements for assassins high-mobility?

I think Annie is really frustrating, and she has the damage to rival pretty much any assassin, but I don't think she would be classified as one.

Zerenza1 votes

All she has to do is take Proto belt(common item on her now) and flash, she'll have less mobility than most assassins but because of the extra mobility it makes her whole kit much more reliable and causes her to basically be better than any other assassin because she can build AP tank and end up with 3k health but still able to 100-0 anyone who has less than 2000 health which other assassins can't do.

Why would i go with the 49% winrate leblance when i can go with the 54% winrate annie? It doesn't really seem to matter that leblanc is more mobile, has reasonably the same damage, a targeted Q just like annie. Annie still has a higher winrate, still has more reliable burst and has a winrate that's consistent at all ELO's.

Evewynn4 votes

Okay? I didn't say she had less damage than other assassins. And I'm not arguing if she has more or not.

My point is she is just not an assassin.

Zerenza1 votes

My point is that she's better at being an assassin that any other assassin, the way people play her is just like an assassin. Go back up and read over my last comment.

I'm fairly sure i didn't say you said she has less, infact i'm absolutely sure i didn't because i already know that's not true. So that part was unnecessary.

Evewynn3 votes

You added the last comment before I replied, so of course I didn't read it.

Anyways, yes Annie is generally better on a team than an assassin. She can melt entire teams and has reliable CC, making her a nightmare in teamfights with her AoE and amazing initiation (where most assassins are weakest or lacking). Thus, she wins games. Ez elo.

Still not an assassin.

Zerenza1 votes

You still don't seem to understand, she plays like one.

How to play annie.

Do you see that squishy target in the back line? Yeah just flash or protobelt over there, hover your mouse over her and boom there you go, she's gone.

Idk man but that sounds like an assassin to me.

Evewynn4 votes

Sounds like veigar, sounds like syndra, sounds like anivia, sounds like fiddlesticks, sounds like lux...

Pretty much any burst Mage can delete a back line late game. Yet most of them are not considered assassins. You can build them "like an assassin" with items, but they still aren't one.

Zerenza1 votes

You see i don't ever remember seeing a lux hop over a wall at me and one shotting me, or a syndra or an anivia or a veigar. So i don't really see how you can put annie with them when that's exactly what she does and thats exactly what assassins do.

Evewynn5 votes

That's funny because I do that all the time as those champs. Lol.

I guess flash makes everyone an assassin.

Zerenza1 votes

I'v never seen them do it, except fiddle so i'll give you that one. Now i have seen all of those champs burst down people but with annie she seems to take pride in protobelting or flashing into the back line just to kill the squishy's and that's really really close to assassin gameplay to me.

FiddlesOnTheRoof1 votes

Protobelt's dash is so short, any back line that would get deleted by it deserves it, and was about to get murdered anyways.

If the Annie is subpar, she wont be able to cs well if she holds her stun for zoning purposes. I assumed she'd have a lot more than 400 AP at level 18 (late game status). Locket, and shields in general fuck up her burst so hard. And everything will be on cd if she uses it all. Assuming you understand that her Q has a ~4 second cd and her W will be roughly 8 or so, you can very likely kill her within 4 seconds. A Lucian once deleted me in 6 seconds as an Amumu, without ult. :/

Zerenza1 votes

Whoops she had about 650 AP(huge difference) but for the whole game anyone who got anywhere near her would just melt. It didn't really matter in the end but the fact she could have that much AP and also have 3k health was really frustrating.

  1. She's not an assassin, she's a burst mage.
  2. Being a burst mage, of course she has high damage that unloads pretty quickly.
  3. She has more counterplay than say the likes of Zed.
  4. Build MR, keep track of her stacks, stay out of her range.
  5. Bait out her stun = Annie death or flash burnt.
  6. I rarely see any Annie players build protobelt, so it's not that common.
  7. She builds tank to be able to survive- notice she has no escapes, is very short ranged and limited mobility, so of course she builds health for more survivability.
  8. Riot likes how she is the counter to mobility and she will stay that way.

AND

  1. Stop QQing and learn how to play against her for once without running home crying to Momma that you got your butt kicked because you couldn't spend the time to educate your self on how to defend against her.

Sincerely,

You should try out Protobelt. It is rather fun and adds extra damage to the instagibness.

My mid laner fed her so i had to deal with her in mid-game. I'v never had much trouble or haven't lately with her when i play mid because of course all of those point are accurate (Not sure how having a point and click stun that almost one shots is counter play though buuut) and honestly it seems that when it comes to saying anything about annie the mains go off their rocker to defend her despite the crucial fact that she has a consistent 54% winrate, has above a 50% winrate against almost every mid laner and has several people in high ELO who main her simply because"She is easy and hard to play against."

SnugglePuggle941 votes

So what if she has a point and click stun? It does have counterplay- watch out for her stacks and stay away. It's called having awareness, bud.

Annie mains "go off" on you QQers because you are going off on their champion for no reason other to try to get nerfs for her. Also, many ask for changes that Riot will never implement, and some aren't educated, like you, on how to defend against her.

So what if her win rate is a bit better than average? That's good for her, and Riot seems to like her in the position she is in right now. Unless she was like Sona at 58% winrate, she's not getting any nerfs anytime soon.

Lol by that logic staying out of range is counter play for every champ?

SnugglePuggle941 votes

Not everyone. It's just staying out of her range when her stun is up, when it's down you can move up. Duh.

It's just like Zed, Syndra, and others- you keep moving around to avoid their high damage spells. With Annie, you move around to avoid her stun. Not much difference people.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

Meh, I don't really care for it. Stats are mediocre and with such a small jump range I rather just use my flash if needed. If I want more health plus the added slow I'll go Rylai's- I got a penta kill with her without Protobelt, I'll do just fine without it.

Unpaladin3 votes

Annie is so powerful she can oneshot just about anyone who doesn't take MR with her one-item powerspike. Doran's Ring is that item

Danyul Targaryen3 votes

If annies didnt exist in the game then champions who get countered by cc would be running this shit

Zerenza2 votes

There are plenty of champions with CC that can counter them. Annie's is oppressive, there is a difference, she apparently according to champion.gg counter's almost every mid laner in the game.

not true not point in click cc like annie thats being phased out

Malix Farwin3 votes

There us counterplay to her kit, its just much easier for you to whine on the forums about it for no reason.

Zerenza1 votes

The only counter play is to run away from her. Stay out of her range, but if you do that there's not really any way your going to be successful in lane, she'll just zone you off of minions.

I would really like you to explain to me how a point and click AOE stun has counter play. Or the fact it does almost 1600 damage even with 50% magic resist in about .25 seconds.

FiddlesOnTheRoof1 votes

Build a GA. Or a maw/death's dance. Or a zhonyas. Or main Annie and gain (apparently) free elo.

The 2nd Horseman3 votes

I mean Talon's e has a larger range then her whole kit... I'm not saying Talon's op but you've got no one to blame when you don't ward or blue trinket. Also you say 400 ap like she got it from one item Rod at max gives 100 and Rabadon's with rod would be something in the 300s. Meaning she needed three ap items leaving her two tank items unless she forgo'd boots.

Ok sure but why2 votes

Oh yeah, and if you do manage to kill her, her bear still lives on!

Annie is completely broken and needs nerfs. Love having an Annie that does 2k damage to be JUST with her ultimate. Complete aids.

Literally any mage would do about the same ammount of damage with ults Alone. Take Viktor, veigar, Orianna just to mention a few

THE RlVER KlNG2 votes

The problem is Annie is that Riot keeps telling themself that they need her 'to keep mobility in check' when in reality she is just as effective, if not more, vs. immobile champs who have even less of a chance of dodging her instantaneous combo. Mobility shouldn't be so strong that Riot has to leave one champion on an oppressive state to 'counter' it.

d4rkshock2 votes

Burst mages will do that to you. Syndra does it. Late game Veigar when he has 1.5k ap. Ryze if a good ryze player. They put that. At below her mana bar for a reason. It's so you can telegraph her stun better. They did the same for Vlad, graves, ryze, and Jhin. The reloads on Jhin and graves plus the crit shot on Jhin are telegraphed pretty easily. Vladimir's empowered q is easily telegraphed. So is Annie's stun. If you think she's going to stun, run. Ad assassin, get hexdrinker. If mage, then get an abyssal scepter.

FiddlesOnTheRoof1 votes

This isn't even remotely close to accurate. But if it is, you should main her and take her all the way to challenjour.
