Why does it seem like everyone is determined to have some broken tank version of every assassin? At this rate, assassins will be virtually non-existant, because Riot will have to nerf every assassin into the ground that way their tank version never shows up. Apparently, Tank Akali became a thing last patch? If so, this is the first time I've seen it, but I hope this was just a fluke thing.

Can anyone confirm if it was a thing?

Tank akali has been around. Her non existant CDS with any kind of base damage, her healing and no escape are the main reasons. It's also a big reason why Fizz and Ekko are going tank. Fizz using one of his biggest damage tools, E, has no escape and long cds early and with all the nerfs, unless he is fed or full build, he needs his E to kill. Ekko mostly same reason, he can't use ult to damage properly most of the ti me and has to save it as an escape only and when your only escape is tied to a very long cd... Triforce is also heavily superior to any first item AP melee's can buy as there is no good first buy on melee AP. The AP item pool was built for ranged champions.

Yasuo is a little bit different, he has near non-existant cds with a HUGE amount of steroids pumped into his kit and decent dps just built in with bases. Windwall as a tank ability that doesn't scale with AD and with items like phantom dancer doubling to reduce damage taken and give him 60% crit, game is just asking for him to be built tank.

Nah i like not being an asshole so i always go ap, the only champ i play a full tank build with is Tahm Kench but he doesnt do great damage like the assasins because hes a tank so i like it

Tank assassins aren't new. Nocturne LeeSin Evelynn XinZhao Pantheon . I don't know a lot about them but I think they've had tank builds before and may sometimes still.

Yeah some of those are secondary assassins, but you listed Yasuo who fits the bill.

well tank everything exists... here are some champs that work tank that arnt tanks..... Annie Fizz---> Fizz Kassadin Malzahar Teemo Veigar Lulu AurelionSol .... try em for yourself or google it but these are/were all things at some point in time

Every one of those you listed is a Diver except Evelynn, who's technically an assassin but her kit doesn't really allow her the burst she needs to be a real one. Divers are supposed to be very mildly tanky, but they're also supposed to build some damage too. It's not unheard of for them to go full tank though.

Assassins like Ekko, Akali, and Fizz, however, were never intended to go tanky and this will likely be remedied in their class rework this holiday season. Yasuo isn't an assassin, but he was also never intended to be tanky either, which was why they changed how his Penetration works so that Tankuo doesn't do shit for damage.
