Riot's balancing logic be like:

Seviel Vorose··3 votes·487 views
  • Syndra is in an "ok" spot.

  • So we'll keep buffing and buffing Lux, who's doing relatively fine.

  • And we'll overbuff Zed, who will obviously be too strong afterwards.

  • Since Ahri is the best waifu, we'll focus on her because she deals "no damage", ignoring Lissandra which has been in need of a new passive for entire seasons.

  • In the meanwhile, we'll allow Ezreal , Xayah and Kaisa to dominate bot lane for no reason at all, just because we like it.

I'll stop here because listing everything would probably take me years. People will start saying "stop flaming Riot, you know nothing about the game". I'm not flaming, i'm showing the sad truth of things.

Let me sum it up for you in one sentence:

"How can we best exploit our playerbase and make the most money without making the whales and other people who don't care about quality or balance upset?"

If you look at those poor decisions you listed, think about the driving factor. It always comes back to money.

  • Syndra can kill you if you fuck up, and that's bad.

    • (Whales are uniformly bad at the game, and if they can't win with minimal effort, they're liable to leave.)
  • Lux has an ultimate skin, and is generally popular and lucrative.

  • Zed is a weaby edgelord, just think of the money making potential.

  • Ahri makes boatloads of money, while Liss makes next to none.

  • Ez has always been popular, Xayah is the new LC$ meta, and Kai'sa is new and has to be broken to be profitable.

Welcome to modern gaming. Isn't it neat? And just think, the genius playerbase enables it.

syndra is a good counterpick to some meta champions and is picked in pro

lux is absolute dogshit and no matter what's her win rate she does not serve a single purpose in the game atm

Seviel Vorose1 votes

She isn't even doing fine in pro play. She only needs a Q passive revert to be easier to balance, but you know, they just don't care.

Seviel Vorose1 votes

Lux isn't considered in pro play because she doesn't have the potential Syndra has if played VERY well. She wouldn't be considered even if she were op.

Ahristocats2 votes

which is why they're doing to her massive changes like removing W cast time to give her potential

the ult buff she received in last patch were nothing and they said it themselves, all it did was increasing lux's satisfaction to play She still IS unplayable and part of that is because her E is innertly unfair which is something they also said, and they said they were going to fixe it

Syndra on the other hand is very well playable, don't ask for buffs, and it's not going to happen anyway

Well, never asked for buffs. I asked for a revert, it's different. And i think you overestimate Lux's weaknesses atm. She's still a decent long range burst mage with good aoe damage and safety. She needs help, just not that much.

She has no damage if she cant land her very easy to dodge q if you get killed by a lux combo its your fault

IT IS ALL DICTATED BY MONEY, HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BALANCE.

Syndra is in an "ok" spot.

53.68% winrate on Diamond elo. Seems fine to me.

So we'll keep buffing and buffing Lux, who's doing relatively fine.

Name one midlaner who can´t do what Lux does, but better. Her buffs will do nothing to make her a better champion.

And we'll overbuff Zed, who will obviously be too strong afterwards.

He's also being banned a lot. According to LoLAlytics, he's the second most banned in the whole game. His pick and ban rates tank the higher the elo goes, but it's contrasted by higher winrates, which means that people who know how to counterpick and/or play against him are fine letting him pass banning phase. Or they just pick Kayle and shit on him early, mid and late game.

Since Ahri is the best waifu, we'll focus on her because she deals "no damage", ignoring Lissandra which has been in need of a new passive for entire seasons.

It has very little to do with Ahri being best waifu, but rather that people didn´t like her losing her assassination properties in favor of being a kiting queen and being so safe.

As for Lissandra, i´m pretty sure Riot is internally testing changes to her passive. They don´t and very likely shouldn´t let us in on everything that happens in there.

In the meanwhile, we'll allow Ezreal, Xayah and Kaisa to dominate bot lane for no reason at all, just because we like it.

Ezreal is very safe, and Kleptomancy allows him to reach earlier powerspikes.

Xayah is also very safe with her root and ult allowing her to reposition and dodge high damage abilities.

Kai'Sa was just overbuffed.

People will start saying "stop flaming Riot, you know nothing about the game".

I mean, they´re right. All you know is what you see in live servers, not what Riot tests internally and iterates upon hundreds of times before releasing one of those in the PBE for public testing and bug-hunting.

TL;DR

Perhaps they´re allowing Kai'Sa to go on being broken because she's not exactly hotfix worthy and they´re internally iterating changes to keep her good but bring her overall power down.

Ezreal and Xayah are safe ADCs, hence their success

Zed's supposed overbuffs will only really affect elos that don´t know how to counterpick or deal with him.

Lux's changes are negligible at best.

Syndra really is on an ok spot.

Ahri's good version makes its return and Lissandra will receive eventual changes to her passive.

actually lux wasnt doing well because she has very high mana costs and morellonomicon no longer gives mana

Morello not giving mana has nothing to do with lux being bad or not item 3285 item 3003 item 3030 all have what you bought morellos for plus presence of mind is literally a lost chapter passive now

except 2 of those lux doesn't buy

except 2 of those lux doesn't buy

That's not the point. The post I responded to said lux is bad because morello is gone and I told him that's false as the only reason you bought old morello's is now on 3 other items and a rune.

Yaśuo Main1 votes

it is the point because now by basic math, lux gets 1/3 of Morello of what she would get normally in her build. so yes you could say she isn't doing well

TekkenPlayer1 votes

Ok, well to address the issue with lux

People often look at winrates as it's static value instead of hovering over trends. For Lux, shes often either in a balanced state or in borderline mediocrity. Even with the current buffs, her stats will just either fluctuate between 46.5- 50. In 8.4 to 8.5 her winrate increases with nothing directly/indirectly touching her. This isn't the first "let's just buff her ult idea." And the incoming buffs don't exactly improve her in the midlane, which is her preferred role.
