We need more champions like Jhin

Jhin is unique. He feels different to play as, with, and against. His damage is earned not given (no true damage here) and is not without sacrifice (mobility and attack speed). He is the (imo) best form of a new champion. One that isn't a copy and past various abilities fro similar champions.

Let me explain:

  1. His kit is fairly straightforward in complexity. Only his w is synergized (and reliant) with other abilities. As an ADC should be. Counter example would be MF whose passive is her big damage dealer besides her ult and it is affected by her q. Her w is complex with her movement speed passive and her attack speed. Not to mention her double ad/ap scalings on every ability other than w. Jhin is all AD based besides AP on his e. Yes he scales Crit and Attack Speed but what AD based marksmen doesn't get those item anyways.
  2. Very unique ULT. First ult ever to change the camera view.
  3. His 4 shots are similar to Graves' 2 shots, but are different in that they dont start to reload until depleted or a long wait period has passed.
  4. Invisible traps that by themselves will rarely damage the target. Now Jhin has some team reliance. Yes his w works well with the traps, but only for 1 target. His teammates can help lock the enemies on his traps for their damage to be useful.
  5. Lastly, he does not have to be in the fight to be in the fight. He has massive ranged abilities that can be used from "safety". Since he is slow and has no form of escape, he can utilize his kit to be the long ranged artillery for the front lines to fight through. Similar to Xerath and Kog'maw, his ult is meant to be used from a distance.

The past few updates, reworks, and champion releases have all been focused around the tanky champions who can hurt on par with an ADC and Caster class champions. True Damage / %health Meta, Tank Meta, Juggernaut Meta, and now the Caster Class Meta°. Jhin, although gets a lot of damage from his abilities, gets most of his damage from his auto attacks. He is one of the first steps back into a more style diverse gameplay.

°Caster Class Meta: most ADC's chosen in the current Meta are Caster Class. Ex: Lucian, MF, Corki, Ezreal, and Graves. Rarely do we see otherwise with the exception being Vayne. *Jhin not included.

We don't need more shitty champions with massively crippling weaknesses. That's what Jhin is, that's what Illaoi was, and neither of them are going to see any play 6 months from now.

Could you elaborate on their weaknesses that you believe are massively crippling? Im interested because so far I personally haven't noticed any that would deter me from using them (not including counter picks of course).

Not only does Jhin have no mobility, but he also has no immediate self peel either. His dps is also quite low which makes simply sticking a tank in his face extremely effective at dealing with him. No other adc has both of these weaknesses at the same time. He may end up being better as a mid laner but he's still a complete sitting duck for any jungler with strong ganks while bringing still highly questionable benefits to the team.

As for Illaoi, she does tons of damage but has absolutely nothing her kit to actually force you to fight her. The only thing she really has is her E and you can just walk out of it most of the time. Compare that to the other Juggernauts like Garen, Darius, Volibear, Mundo, and Nasus who all have powerful tools to make sure that you can't simply run away when it's time to rumble. That is an absolutely enormous weakness to have once you get to an Elo where people aren't stupid enough to pick fights with you that they have 0 chance of winning.

The irony.

Although I like Jhin in design terms and feel he is kinda on the overloaded side atm. I do like non mobile caster adc but they shouldn't need that many forms of damage to be relevant.

Atm he feels more like an AD mage than an AA focused adc. Thats not always a bad thing just keep the spells ability to do dmg to a reasonable amount.

And try to get them to contribute more to a team fight than just 1 ult cast. I have the same beef with current MF ult design.

Lol just saw how old this post was :P
