% armor reduction
% armor penetration
flat armor penetration

Let's say the enemy team is top mid jungle carry support

Going to use Rammus as an example against a full AD team like Darius, Talon, Lee Sin, Cait, Sion. Rammus base armor = 104 Rammus bonus armor = 412 Rammus total armor = 516

Rammus' effective armor against 6 stacks alone = 361 (from total armor) Rammus' effective armor against alone = 331 (reduced bonus armor to 227 from 412)

Black Cleaver reduces base armor to 73 and bonus armor to 288 Last Whisper then reduces bonus armor to 158 Rammus' effective armor against both = 231

THAT'S A 100 ARMOR DIFFERENCE!

Please tell me more about how having both is counter effective? (PD can be substituted for )

Literally every post I've made some fool uses that exact quote. I actually just had 4 guys down vote me on a post where a guy is complaining about how tanks are too OP in this game. So I simply left ...

... as a comment, then had these 4 fools start flaming me with the whole LW reduced effectiveness with BC comment. Saying LS/Crit is the better way to go against tanks. And I'm sitting here like, how the hell would LS/Crit save you against Malphite ?

They do work against each other but that's just the nature of armor penetration. I myself havent updated my math for a while (mage main) but there will always be optimal levels of enemy armor to penetrate where that or more makes buying one or both worth it over some other penetration item. For example, a few seasons back it became optimal to get item 3071 over item 3142 at around 134 armor and then item 3035 came at something like 150-180.

well u generally build crit on an adc first anyways, and if u are fighting a tank you need lifesteal to trade long enough with them or else they just tank all ur dmg till you get runned down. But yes, Last Whisper is def optimal vs tanks.

Something like: item 3031 item 3006 item 3087 item 1053 item 3036 would be a good approach.

Well, it's not the ADs job to buy BC. They simply don't have a spot in their item build for it. But not buying LW is absolutely asinine.

I run AS runes, so I don't need 2 as/crit items like most builds require. With AS runes and item 3006 item 3153 I get all the AS speed I need with item 3085 putting me over the top. Gives me room for item 3036 item 3071 and major flexibility on the last item, I normally go with item 3072 .

Black Cleaver and Last Whisper are actually not detrimental to each other for a simple reason: Cleaver reduces total Armor in the way that it affect both base Armor and bonus Armor at the same time.

What I mean by that is examplied best with a target with 100 base and 100 bonus Armor. If this champion is affected by a fully stacked Cleaver, he'd have 70 base Armor and 70 bonus Armor.
