Unpopular opinion: increase movement speed across the board to reduce damage

Pierce The Veal··8 votes·5,012 views

As the seasons passed we transitioned from unavoidable point and click damage into skillshots and other fancy abilities that, usually have counterplay.

The issue we face in today’s game is too much damage, too much mobility (in the form of dashes), and too much unreducible cc.

A way to artificially fix this problem would be to simply buff the movemet speed of champions as well as the soft cap to movement speed by 10–30%. My preferred number being 15-20%. What this does is reduces the comparative advantage of dashes and increases the amount of missed skillshots, leading to overall reduced damage, reduced cc, and reduced effective mobility, on top of encouraging more vigorous and fast paced macro. A simple solution that would solve many of the game’s current issues.

This might require a slight buff to objectives to make it so that be reduced time travelling doesn’t mean the objectives disappear faster.

Your thoughts?

Well, Riot turned the rest of the game into URF. They should do so with movement speed as well.

And "skill shot" is subjective if you look at the width of Akali's "skill shots" that are harder to miss than a Ryze W.

Roughly the idea I had, yeah. A lot of these skillshots are actually hard to miss if you’re trying to hit them; that or your cdr is so high that you can spam it until something hits.

That's a straight buff to every championg with little to no skillshots,

or Adcs.

This will give less reaction time! some one comes from fog of war with 800 MS and get on you in 0.1 sec, same time that take him to kill you, then go bot/top to one shot your team mates, until you come back... [zombie-brand-clap]

This will probably turn out like S6(?) when swifties were buffed and everyone was too fast

To be fair, swifties were the cheapest pair of boots in the game, costing, I believe, 800 gold total, for boots that gave 60 movespeed.

no thanks I like mobile ADCs being weaker but I don’t like immobile ADCs either, I just hate them less

unless we reduce all auto attack ranges on marksmen hmmm

The idea is horrible so it might be just something Riot ll do

I ll explain why its a horrible idea because I dont expect non League Gods to understand it

Its an anti melee change and Riot has DONE enough of those already

They Quadrupled tower damage - ANTI MELEE They added free shields of gold - ANTI MELEE (toplane high elo meta is bassicly all ranged) They increased tower tankiness - ANTI MELEE (because map opens up slower) (They ll make it open up even slower soon XYDD)

Increasing everyone movementspeed would just be another anti melee blshit If you cant comprehend that, congratz you have Riot live design team IQ

Also some skillshots which are unreliable in high elo (like ziggs q and nidalee q would be even worse off)

How is it anti melee if it just means ranged skillshots become worse because they’re easier to dodge?

Its anti melee in 2 ways

  1. Ranged champions reach tower faster, and since they need cover more often and since Towers are way more efficient in covering ranged champions while melee champions can still get poked from rangeds under tower its a buff to ranged overlords.

  2. Ranged champions have easier time dodging abilities because abilities fly longer on average against them. which is why your ms B**UFF IS ANTI MELEE CHANGE **

EXTRA note Rectilinear skillshots are undodgeable from melee range apart from beast pump fake predicting (Seperate issue tho, fixable by keystones for example)

Personally skillshots make this game fun and I don't feel bad getting hit with a charm/morg bind because I know I could've reacted. I think they need to focus hard on reworking out targetable cc, with the exception of some supports for assassin peel; because it's mindless and not fun to play against. Take Eve for example, if you don't see her on the map you literally just can't be pushed up far or she can targetable cc you with invisibility and your only option for counterplay is flashing out of range which might not even work.

Which is funny, because eve’s cc is not “targetable” point and click unless you use her e, in which case you have to either flash, or walk into close enough range to use it.

and go back to mobility creep of season 6?

Dashes were the source of mobility creep, not movement speed. Nowadays, increasing movement speed across the board would just make it so dashes are relatively weaker, hence making mobility weaker in ways.
