Question for other support mains

Does the last-hitting concept drive any of you support mains nuts? Unless you're a champ that can ignore minions for your CC (Zyra, Nami, Janna, etc.) last hitting just means (to me) I can't do anything. I tend to run the tank supports, so Naut, Braum, and Thresh all have to hope the enemies are not paying attention when their minions die off so you can hook/poke.

Is it just me, or do you have the dance ADC's are required to make?

I've never been good at last hitting because of it, yep.

I'm no support main, but I do play quite a bit of support. That being said, yes, a thousand times over. It's especially irritating when I'm a champion that needs to do something early like Nautilus, Tahm Kench, Leona, etc. They're supports you pick to fight a lot in lane, to punish mistakes, and to win lane quickly.

It's just depressing to me when an ADC is so unwilling to fight in lane out of fear of throwing, that they end up throwing.

I actually got to the point where when my ADCs start doing that I drop a ward in tri bush for them and leave, since I'll be better utilized elsewhere.

I just don't understand why people in lower elos won't utilize the level 2 advantage. I'm nautilus, we push fast, let's rush level 2, all in, probably kill one or two, at least blow sums, and zone them off of everything. It'll be worth more than last hitting those two creeps that might die during the fight.

I ask now. Passive or Aggressive.

Major issue with it is so many players think either

  1. I'm going to carry, I don't need to answer this scrub
  2. I'm going to mute everyone, so I won't talk in select (even to call lane)

If people told me up front they like to hang back I'd pick a mage and solve all problems.

Precisely my issue as well, I never get responses to the questions, so I try to play supports that can do either thing in lane, or are effective when roaming to another lane.

Stuff like Nautilus Braum Thresh TahmKench Alistar Morgana

Because the game kicks you in the balls for not having voice communication. Bot (for both roles) is terrible for "friendly baiting", either the adc will initiate and run after the support engages, or the support will initiate and then back off when the adc is following up. Usually these are "I was just trying to zone, why the heck did you join in?" kind of scenarios, which may be true or may be CYA by the other player.

This is also the biggest PROBLEM with the "carry harder" mentality. New players are TOLD "your teammates are idiots, assume the worst and just carry as hard as you can". That means in LOW elo, no one trusts their team in a TEAM game and early chances are either unrealized or too often "screw up" and TEACH the participants, "ok, can't count on my teammate ever again".

Alright that's a fair point.

I'm not quite sure what your issue is. Are you worried about taking CS, or are you worried that your ADC prioritizes CS over bot lane brawls?

I've had people tell me to take Leona and then play passive. That's fine, because it means that they wanted me there for intimidation and protection instead of All-Ins. I can usually figure out their intent if my first all-in gets any follow up. It's happened often enough that I have a good idea how to behave in a farm lane with Leona. It's amusing. Had a game with an Alistar/Ashe against Vayne/Leona. Alistar and I just taunted each other for five minutes.

You wouldn't notice with Leona.

The issue is that a lot of the abilities are blocked by minions. So when the ADC is dancing around waiting for minions to get enemy-minions in place, you can't do anything. It's a game mechanic that they're smartly pursuing, but it's boring as hell for any Support with a minion-interaction ability.

Leona's hook goes through minions, so you're really just talking positioning.

Well, Leona does damage everything she hooks through. It's negligible.

Morgana has this issue with her Q. Lots of roaming back and forth for the right angle.
