How to fix Yasuo without changing his crit or damage;

Dominick Destine··2 votes·735 views

1- Reduce base MS from 345 to 325. Context; Yasuo has his built-in manaless, no-CD dashes in order to get around, he should rely on his unparalleled mobility to travel through the battlefield. His opponent should be able to capitalize on the moments when Yasuo is not able to use his skills freely (I.e. counterplay).

2- Reduce Yasuo's attack from 175 to 125. Yasuo should be required to put himself in harm's way to execute his greatest combinations thus, he will need to use speed and technique to achieve his damage rather than rely on a combination of raw range , speed and sustainability. It should be risky to get in close range during a bad engage, Yasuo should be required to be opportunistic and choose his engages carefully (Read: Get closer during an opportunity for more meaningful decision making).

3- There is no need for a third point, the first two were sufficiently good.

This way his thematic element is conserved in every way (Dashing, high combination damage, built-in sustain, double AoE stun, etc.) but he is actually required to make intelligent use of his kit rather than just brute forcing his way to victory every time with higher damage, mobility and sustain. etc.

I always liked the idea of that he can't use windwall until he is full Flow, and then when he uses windwall, his flow is depleted (trading a personal shield for a shield wall), or windwall's duration is is directly varied with the amount of flow he had ( 50% duration for 50 % flow).

Just make him give up something for all he has.

He's fine how he is

And no, I don't play Yasuo.

Also what is reducing his auto range going to do? His MS is because he is melee, how all have higher base stats then ranged champ because they are, well, melee! He's dash is not unlimited, or do you forget that he has to have an enemy to dash too? If he's out in the open, then he is no more mobile then a Nasus

Only ONE thing is needed to balance Yasuo. Change windwall. It is the reason he's so bipolar in lane and why he's so frustrating to play against. Hell, I would be fine with them BUFFING him if they just removed windwall. He's already got his shield to mitigate poke and his dashes to avoid skillshots. He doesn't need one of the strongest utility spells in the game.

Yes, Yasuo does have his shield to mitigate poke every ten seconds or so and he does have his dash to dodge skillshots, but what of targeted spells? Annie Q, for example, is a targeted projectile that Yasuo will never be able to Sweeping Blade away from. His windwall is the only thing that protects him from CC abilities and such that he can't dodge, abilities that would otherwise make him very easily crushed. The long cooldown (a second or two too long IMHO) is the offset to the utility of the spell. The only differences between his wall and Braum's shield are 8 seconds (in Braum's favor) cooldown, a bit of width, and the fact that CC won't affect Yasuo.

Honestly, I think xXBlue FalconXx has a decent idea. Yasuo's windwall is fairly integral to the way his kit feels, but it doesn't fit as well with how it works, if that makes sense. If casting windwall required a various amount of his flow meter, it would force the player to chose between blocking some projectiles or having his shield up that instant. I don't think it should cost his full flow bar, but treating it sort of like a reverse of Rumble 's Heat bar would be an interesting change.

Windwall. Auto shield sustain.

So? 90% of the rest of the champs in the game can't stop an Annie Q either. Why does Yas get to with the press of a button? Yi can't. Tryndamere can't. Jax can't. Etc etc. But Yas gets a "press this button to "outplay" button" just because? I wouldn't mind if it was a spell shield, but he literally denies ALL ranged attacks and most ranged spells... and for a REALLY long time.

Um... characters with skills like that ALREADY kinda brutalize Yas. So you're saying he NEEDS windwall because otherwise he might not be able to outplay... his counters?

That's pretty spoiled, don't you think? I'm not mocking you specifically but a lot of Yas players seem to think that they "deserve" all these crazy strong abilities that let them outplay everyone and everything if they play them correctly. Why? Why does Yas get to press W and shut down the enemy adc for 4 seconds? Why can't be have vulnerabilities? And I don't mean "If I already used my W and then you shoot me" vulnerabilities. I mean REAL vulnerabilities.

Right now, Yas only loses to himself. If he makes a mistake, he fails. Some people can beat him harder than others but Yasuo can ALWAYS find a way to stay relevant or even outplay his hardest counters. The power is always in his hands and the enemy can only counterpick him and/or hope he's crap. That's not fun or fair. Yasuo has three defensive powers... two if we don't count his dashes (though I do). He can shut down ranged champs for 4 seconds with the push of a button... and that's not even his ult. Tell me why he needs that when other melee carries don't? Not "oh because I need it to outplay annie". Why does he really need that? It's because Yas players WANT it... and that's absurd. Wind Wall should be on a support, and it should be an ult. It affects the game that much. It's probably THE strongest defensive spell in the game. It's the reason Yasuo is hated by everyone, and picking champs that play around it are how you "counter" him. Because no one wants to deal with it. It's a terrible skill both from a balance perspective AND a "enjoyment of the game" perspective. Heck, the times I've played Yasuo I didn't even feel suave for using it. It's a single button press to be immune to ranged attacks.

Ditch wind wall and give Yasuo something else on his W. It can be defensive or offensive or what have you... but he will never be fun to play against as long as he has wind wall. Denial powers aren't fun.

You completely missed my point. Yasuo's windwall is just as much a denial spell as Braum's Unbreakable or any stun, silence, or knockup in the game. It is 3.75 seconds of protection in one direction that is able to be walked through on a cooldown of at max rank 18 seconds. I was not saying that Yasuo needs some overpowered utility to remove all his counters, I was giving an example of why the ability is useful in some situations. There is a very very simple counter to his windwall. Simply don't shoot at him. Kill minions or walk around the thing so he is completely vulnerable. Yes, he may use it to block a skillshot or two, save himself from death for a second, but it is essentially an unmoveable Braum shield that gives Yasuo no buffs and just sits there.

The Whamboozler1 votes

And? Braum's shield only blocks ONE ability. Yasuo dropping a wind wall in a teamfight denies your carry and probably your mage from affecting the fight at all unless they put themselves wildly out of position to do it. Even if you do, in the time you're repositioning, his team is wailing on yours and you're not affecting the fight.

I don't mind it as an ability... but it is POWERFUL. It needs to be on a support or something. Yas has enough going for him without also having one of the best team defense abilities in the game too.

MorningEspeon1 votes

No, as far as I'm aware, Braum's shield lasts for the skill duration or until it is broken by damage...

The Whamboozler1 votes

Dude, it negates ONE ability... and not even entirely... CC gets through. The rest of them hit him for reduced damage.

Yasuo presses a button to negate ALL damage and ALL CC from most ranged abilities. What's more, he doesn't need to sit there with the wall and use his time making sure it works... he can dive off and kill someone. Windwall blocks things coming from BEHIND him if he hits it fast enough. It's a insanely stronger ability. If something like Wind Wall is gonna exist in the game (and I think it's bad design and shouldn't, but meh) it should be on a defensive champion... a support or tank or something. Not on a freaking hypercarry.

I hate Yasuo so much and yet I still admit those nerfs are too much and would make him too bad. 20 movespeed is a lot. I think that alone would make him trash tier.
