Tip for fighting Ekko in lane

Pick someone with zoning. Ekko is based around positioning (his Q uses it, his W, his R, his E is used for his positioning). If he can't get a break on positioning he's boned.

For top lane bullies such as as good because Ekko can only CS with his Q, or else he gets to have fun with the Renekton experience. Additionally, the stun is nice, because you know, stun. Slice and Dice lets you get out of his W or dodge his Q.

Mid lane champions who zone melees, such as are good because it means he cannot CS. Additionally, Azir's soldiers won't have to worry about the stun, meaning they can engage him when he is in his W.

Ekko is position intensive. His Q revolves around zoning a target, and redirecting its return by moving to position an enemy between him and the Q. His W is based around controlling a zone. His R telegraphs a position that he can potentially nuke.

Some general counters to deal with him out of lane are champions with dashes, such as and , who will be able to avoid his Q and W, preventing some of his damage and CC. Additionally, hard CC champions such as and can massively hinder him. Without the ability to move around, he cannot utilize his W to stun well, cannot use his E, cannot reposition his Q, and cannot use his ultimate.

As an assassin, if Ekko is hit by a Morgana binding, and Morg's team is nearby, he is generally dead. Even with Sorc Shoes and QSS I found myself often being locked down too much to do much in fights, resorting to picking off the enemy carries.

Some theoretical picks that could do well against him; Supposedly should be able to dodge his stuff and out mobilize, his passive and Q shield also mean he takes less damage. Early in the game Pantheon's dueling power is too much for Ekko to handle alone. Pantheon can easily use his W to get to him and follow up with his strong early to mid game damage, Press R. Team follows up (or you hit Q and E on him, the latter which is targeted) and he's dead. Stickier than super glue on the worlds largest ball of bubble gum in a vat of tar. Combined with CC from Q Xin can easily get to Ekko and smack him up. In lane could bully with his early game power. After that Ragnarok could supposedly allow him to duel Ekko, as he wouldn't be able to stun him. If you keep track of his ulti clone, you can position the ball as he uses his ultimate to be prepared for counter measures.

I would highly suggest to not pick low mobility champions, as Ekko, despite being melee, will easily kite you in duels using his Q and W. Additionally, you would have no way dodging his stuff.
