Biased? Are frustrating champions to deal with generally more fun to play?

Just dawned on me that it doesn't matter what a champion's win rate is ( LeeSin ) people still find him frustrating and some "over powered"

I feel like a lot of champions that are fun to me, and many others judging by their play rate are also those that frustrate players. Yasuo Zed Rengar Riven LeeSin Fizz Shaco Teemo Fiora Annie Azir Darius Ekko Now I don't necessarily mean, a champion who is fun to play is also frustrating for the enemy, or visa versa. My point is more aimed at the history of champions that people complain about consistently or rather often.

It doesn't seem to matter what the win rates are of these champions are they are generally hated by a large portion of the community. At the same time, a large portion of the community also enjoys to play these champions more so than others.

I don't want you all to be confused with "FOTM" champions as i feel like those champions are often frustrating to deal with based on how strong they really are due to a specific patch or string of patches. Whereas the champions i listed are frustrating to many no matter what patch.

Most of those "frustrating" champs also have a high skillcurve but rewarding results, so yeah, I'd say they're more fun to play. The very nature of that skillcurve means it's also more difficult for the enemy to deal with them because there are more intricacies in the kit. Which means more frustration.

I agree, so how can riot properly balance around this? It seems rather unfair that someone like lee sin sits in the gutter given his frustrating nature while even those that play him nonstop still hold a less than 50% win rate. Do you agree with this or is it justified by something i'm missing? I'm guessing a lot of it has to do with the pro-scene as he's over-shadowed many junglers in the past. I personally feel like the game has evolved a lot since s3/4 to whereas it would take quite a bit to make him as oppressive as before. Perhaps im wrong though.

Several of those "high skillcap high reward" champions (Azir/Lee/Ryze/etc) are extremely strong in the right hands (aka, LCS players). The game is also balanced around said LCS level. Which results in said champions being almost trash in anything below said pro-scene level. Because of the very fact that the skillcurve is so punishing due to the pro-scene level nerfs.

The problem is, if they became good in lower levels, they'd become absolute monsters in higher levels.

Makes sense, but to what extent? I feel like Gragas and Viktor use to be super popular in competitive as well, whereas azir and lee always seem to get shafted in yolo Q while Grag and Vik can still be decent picks at both, same with someone like Yasuo.

Azir and Lee are flashier.

So they balance around how cool something looks too?...

I'm a LeeSin main.

I've always found that the best way to learn how to beat a champion is to play them and learn their weaknesses. It makes it less frustrating to play against them. Unfortunately with high skill cap champs, you have to invest a lot of time just to be able to play them on a basic level. This means it takes much longer to be able to appreciate their weaknesses. Hence the unreasonable hatred.

Can't take too long if he has a below average win rate patch after patch...
