Can Annie's stun have a holding duration?

JavelinJoe··10 votes·1,198 views

It always is frustrating to see her hold that stun forever just waiting for any opportunity. For such a powerful "free" utility, she should not be able to hold it indefinitely with no cost. She should at least have to either refresh it's timer somehow, or have to reacquire it if X amount of seconds have passed.

ITS HER PASSIVE

we are talking about a PASSIVE

oh she can only proc it after she charges it after 4 spells ( which all have mana and cds ) and on the next spell she can stun ( that next spell has mana and cdr as well )

oh its not her stun that kills you its her burst with her kit... she is a nuker

Her q can have 0 mana cost and a very, very short CD. If it kills any unit (minions and void-spawns included) it gets a full mana refund as well as half its CDT cut. At a base 4s at all levels and with Annie usually having 40-45% CDR, you are looking at a 2.2s-2.4s CD with no mana cost. her E costs 20 mana. Not really draining her mana bar here.

Most other champions with a stun can hold theirs indefinitely...lol

Annie has drawbacks with her stun, unlike most other mages with CC.

Not only that...Annie's kit has drawbacks compared to almost every other mage.

Shorter range, no on-demand stun, no innate slows, etc etc. While her damage is similar...not higher than most mages.

Well you are not entirely wrong, but usually those stuns are part of (or entirely) an existing ability, not a passive where any of 3 abilities, 2 being large/wide ranged AOEs, can apply it.

I think Annie would be far more cancerous if her Q, W, or R (any one of the three) stunned every time instead of having her current passive.

Think about it in that light.

Its the same reason Irelia's stun isn't the issue.

If E stunned no matter what on Irelia, would you really feel better? It wouldn't be 'punishing you for winning' anymore.

Even if it slowed no matter what, she'd still be able to do the majority of things she currently can, which would still feel just as awful to deal with. Not to mention the fact she'd get significant buffs for this change.

The issues with these champions are the kits, not the CC.

Irelia is point-and-click dps-burst-tank-assassin.

Annie is an AoE nuker that you can't really kill before she blows her hot load all over your face because of her E.

Why would one of her abilities gain a stun? All I asked for was that she would have to either reacquire it or keep it up somehow.

Maybe killing units with her Q could extend the timer by some small amount. The post was more for Support Annie who just stands there likely out ranging the bot lane duo just sitting on a 600+ ranged point and click or AOE stun. I am leaning more towards the Q interaction I suggested since then it targets her support role a lot more than her Mid lane role since using her Q to kill units is a lot less common as a support due to the ADC getting most of if not all of the minion kills.

People have been asking for this forever. Riot simply refuses to because they "like" that she can do that.

SrbLud2 votes

She does have a tradeoff. The only thing she can do while it's up is AA or she resets..

Force her to use it by trading off a flash juke, trade a dash, put your tank on her first with item 3102 or a carry withitem 3157 . Depending on the situation of course.

She can also use her E which is a 16->40% damage reduction, but yes her other 3 abilities are restricted. However she also have 575 basic attack range allowing her to out range most marksmen. And if her target becomes untargetable, or if blocked by Yasuo's WW, it is not used allowing her very next damaging ability to apply the stun.

Yes please. There is almost no counterplay to that thing...

There is counter play, it's called range. Her range is horribly short that if you play a champion with range you will easily dumpster all over her. Don't complain when you take a no range champion against her, it's called counter play.

Her range is horribly short

Her basic attack range is 575 out ranging most marksmen. Her Q and W are both 625 and her R is 600. So IDK how you can think it is horribly short

Lux, Orianna, Syndra, Xerath, Morgana, even Ahri. They all out range her hard and can harass her without taking damage back. Don't pick Leblanc, Fizz, Zed or Yasuo and complain that her stun has "no counterplay".

People on the forums just want to cry op because they think she is annoying to deal against. There are so many champions out there that can out range annie easily but people always pick akali, lb, zed, fizz,Yasuo and get destroyed and automatically assume x champion op lol

... So Xerath and Ziggs wreck her... What about everyone else on the roster, what are they supposed to do? Her having two counters doesn't make her fair. (And yes I know Morg counters her too, your argument is still BS)

oSEXYPLATYPUSo3 votes

if she is so unbeatable why isnt she a highly contested pick? and why dont she have a higher win % ?

CancerBasedGod1 votes

From what I read she has 52% win rate... 50% is average so it seems like she is winning pretty well.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

never said she wasnt doing ok ...

thats not the point of the OP

she is beatable , has counter play... she is far from broken ...

CancerBasedGod1 votes

She has counterplay from some champions. Anyway the point of the OP is that this is really hard to deal with and play against. I agree that it doesn't fit for it to be so difficult to play around the stun when you consider all the other strengths to Annie's kit.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

and she has counter play... her passive isnt what kills you.

it has a cd and a cost based on having to cast spells to get the passive active and then another spell to proc it. i already explained this in a comment below

CancerBasedGod1 votes

She has less counterplay than most midlaners.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

if that was the case then she would have the highest win rate, pick rate and ban rate of all mid laners

she dont...

wanna know what had no counter play and was broken season 3-4 of kassidin mid 98% ban/pick rate

CancerBasedGod1 votes

What are you talking about?! I said most not all. Obviously the least counterplay belongs to Le Tele Dash.

Any artillery mage outranges her. Any tank shrugs off her burst and kills her. Any assassin waits for her to blow her stun and then goes in (although some can also just build edge of night). Any burst mage races to stun her first and pop her. When you say "some" champions you actually mean "most" champions.

These are all really strong against Annie if your mechanics are even average: Xerath Ziggs Morgana Brand Lux Leblanc ( only if you're god tier with her mechanically) Kassadin Galio Syndra Cassiopeia

Most of her matchups can stomp her if played right actually.

The only ones with some really big issues would be Katarina and Kayle . But that only stands for low ELO and is situational at best.

Annie has a really low skill ceiling. You play her for a couple of games, and if you're an average gamer, you've got her down. That might be a good thing in bronze or maybe even silver, but higher than that she can be rendered useless really quickly.

In bronze and silver you'll see a lot of players play champs that have high skill ceilings, and it takes a lot of time to learn and use them to their full potentiall.

Annie player comes over and wipes you out because he understands his champ better.

Annie is not the only one. Look at all the champs that reign chaos in bronze. Most are low skill ceiling champs that don't get nearly any pick/ban priority in higher ELO.

Leblanc vs Annie is eeeeh, risky for LB.

There are many champions with more range than annie in general and that can actually zone annie hard and that pretty much beat her in lane

Orianna she has always been considered a strong pick against annie by the simple fact that she can zone annie hard in lane. Syndra do I have to explain this pick? It's clear why she does extremely well against annie and most champions. Cassiopeia can zone annie in lane pretty easily if played correctly she also seems to win in lane more often than not against annie (http://champion.gg/champion/Annie/Middle) Ziggs obvious why he wins Corki although he is not a traditional pick he sure has a strong laning phase against annie with his long harass and poke Lux you can zone her in lane hard, I've played annie against lux many times and can confirm it is a pain in the ass when the lux actually knows how to play her, good luck farming against this champ. Ekko another champion that generally gives annie a rough time in lane even if he's melee, he can out sustain her burst and can be relatively tanky thanks to shield. Xerath no explanation needed Galio he generally can give almost every burst mage a challenge in lane If played correctly. Morgana ? Morgana has never been a counter to annie, she doesn't have crazy range nor crazy zoning tools. Just because she can avoid cc doesn't mean she will counter her. Yeah morg is generally considered a good pick against most mages but she's not really considered a counter, just a safe pick

There may be other champions that beat annie but these champions are the most common picks to deal against her and tibbers:) every champion in league has counters whether you admit it or not. People just hate annie because she is easy to play and theoretically it's almost impossible to fuck your rotation over compared to champions with skill shots and more complicated kits. Truth is annie can't kill you unless you get within her range and trust me it's not that difficult to stay away from her when you play smart... she doesn't do well against champions with range and champions that are great zones, so yeah there are more than 2 champions that can beat her in lane or zone the living hell out of her.

Considering her shield completely negates Annie's stun, and she can harass with Q W from waaaay back, wouldnt she be considered a counter? Morg can save her E for when she wants to ult, so Annie cant stun.

I mean you could consider her a counter but I view morgana more of a safe pick rather than counter since she doesn't really have things to give annie a rough time in lane. They both can push fairly easily and farm safely, as morg you would be safe against annie as long as you shield yourself in time and you actually put points into shield early game so annie doesn't pop your shield instantly (which is weird because you want to max Q and tormented soil) not to mention annie doesn't really have a downtime to her stun compared to morgana who has a 24 second cool down on shield at rank 1 or something like that, annie can have her stun back up within a few seconds.

No that's not counter play that is a counter. there is a difference. counter play is a mechanic that any player can take advantage of a counter are certain mechanics that shut down other mechanics. For instance being able to destroy GP barrels is counter play any champ can do this. a counter is Teemo blinding Nasus so he cant q.
