Comparing Lux with Xerath

I love playing Lux - she's one of my favorite champions. But I've recently gone against a lot of Xeraths in lane, and it leaves me fuming. It seems that he can do just about everything I can do, but better. I love the archetype of a long range poke caster, and it seems that Xerath and Lux fill that class in different ways. However, with the state Lux is in now, I'm not sure if there's any reason at all to pick Lux over Xerath.

Granted, ability comparison doesn't show everything, but here's some interesting facts.

Xerath has a bigger slow, harder cc, longer range ult with higher damage, better mana costs, cheaper and better poke, longer ranged abilities, and more reliable waveclear. Lux does have a two-target bind, but I think a single-target stun is still better. Lux also grants vision, and has a shield.

Xerath feels like artillery, while Lux feels more like a kitey scout sort of champ. I don't think that they should have homogeneous abilities. But I think Lux needs some changes to make her shine in her own role, and not just get outclassed by Xerath in pretty much everything.

**TL:DR Lux and Xerath have similar but distinct roles. However, Xerath performs better at most aspects of Lux's role currently. Changes need to happen to make the champs more distinct. **

Lux's utility needs to be increased. Heavier slows, better cc, and stronger shields.

I see your point, I main Xerath and it is true that poke wise Xerath is a simply better champ. However Lux has a shield and the Lux ult is simply a much superior ult compared to Xerath's. Lux shield has absurd scaling and shields five teammates at one same time. Asides from that, Lux ultimate deals instant damage and has capability of stealing dragon while Xerath has to hit all three shots to out damage Lux ultimate. I do agree that Lux needs some improvement in her kit though. Her waveclear is too slow to be played in mid lane and base stats too low to be played as a support. Maybe higher base for her shield and mana refund for her passive.

Lux and Xerath have a similar purpose, long range poke, but they're really not comparable. Lux has a shield and a hugely powerful burst ult which is really good for stealing objectives. Xerath is basically 100% power with a stun. I see where you're coming from but they're fairly different. Xerath is a mage, Lux is support first mage second.

They're not same wth. It's like Lulu is same with Xerath because she is poking too.

I'm sorry but baseline Lux has far more safeplay than Xerath, her spells deal a lot more of dmagae (2 Lux spells + AA deal more damage than a Xerath full combo) plus her cc/damage doesn't rely on bullseye. Lets also mention that her ultimate is far more reliable and her shield is a good team tool.

What Xerath wins is range (at ultimate max rank) and mana. all other terms are in favor of Lux.
