AFK problem solved

Its simple. You create a standby queue for players who are willing to take over a champion that AFKs in a match. Lets say, after a 2 minutes, you will lose the match you AFKed on, and a random player of similar rank will take control of that champions. That player wins a a fair amount of LP if they win, and losses very little if they lose as they are entering an unknown match, albeit with a champion they are okay playing with.

WHY NOT?

Tried to suggesting this few years back, no one really liked it. Idea sounds interesting, execution by Riot would probably destroy it tho.

That is actually a really good idea, you know "queue for a random game", I'd honestly would do that than actually playing my main because it teaches you more about the game because it's better to have someone behind the champion who don't know what they're doing than nobody.

A "fill" queue. If there are people prowling "customs" for matches to enter, then surely there would be volunteers for a "fill" queue. We could experiment with it in normals, surely.

Try to convince Riot to do it. I mean, they'll just come up with lazy excuses like, "not enough people will be interested in it, so it doesn't justify the cost and time needed to put it in, even though it will literally improve games."

Yawn. Riot isn't a game developer anymore and by GOD is it annoying to see them try and manage this game.

Yeah you see there is an issue with this that I can see straight out the gate. LP influx, you either need to subtract the LP the "new" person gains from the AFK person, which would mean an AFK could result in a huge LP loss. I would be cool with it, but I don't really like the low risk high reward nature for the person that fills the void, unless people can queue up for it like only once a week or something. And of course doesn't count as a promo game for the filler

I don't think there's a sustainably large number of people who would q up for that queue, especially since you'd need a very large number of people (what happens if a kogmaw or Ivern afks?) to even ballpark the correct mmr.

It would also require completely restructuring how the game associates your account with that match, and would almost certainly have a higher rate of the fill in afking when they get in. "this guy took klepto Draven and is down 2 levels. Fuck that, conq is best. a summoner has disconnected".

This is such a terrible idea, even if it's the same champion they wish to play, they might want different runes or different items, they would join into a lane that's already had an advantage as you're taking over a player that is behind in gold and exp by a lot.

Also implementing this would be terribly hard with not a big payoff. Do you have any idea of how unlikely it'd be for a person to get a champion they like/are good with+ the enemy comp, runes, items? afks are nowhere near as common as people make them out to be either so you would never get a game. Also who'd even queue for that instead of queueing for the normal playlists?

What they need to fix is not punishing the players that get an afk on their team but that in itself is pretty hard as people could abuse it and "take one for the team" de moment the game doesn't go their way to spare their team the big LP loss.
