What reason is there to play Aurelion Sol?

Besides the really gimmicky AOE stun that is easily just sidestepped like a sion ult, what does he have that is useful? His damage and CC are both so unreliable.

Sol is fairly strong, even after his nerfs. He has an AoE stun that he can spam and his damage is pretty reliable if you can position right. Not to mention that if he does manage to follow his stun long enough, it can completely destroy a teamfight for the enemy, and if he doesn't, well it's on a fairly short cooldown anyway.

Why would you play any other champion? I play a champ because I enjoy their kit and personality.

Mechanics-wise though, Sol has his stun, his stars that can proc spell effects (Luden's, Rylai's, Liandry's, etc.), he can fly over walls (which lets him see over them if you just fly next to them), he has a long, AoE slow / knockback (which Yas can ult off of), and is pretty good at kiting people / preventing people from running. And he moves pretty quick, so roaming is super easy.

Didn't you see Riot's latest post? You can't take that mentality into a sport!

Aurelion does look cool, though.

What post? O.o

And if anyone considers a video game a sport (and the fact that esports is so big is equally hilarious but saddening at the same time), I'd laugh so hard I'd throw up. xD

There is no reason.

In a vacuum I don't like Aurelion. Compared to other mages in League, he's specifically horrible.

Also, why sidestep the Q when you can just hit him with any long ranged ability as he's coming in, and it'll never reach you? He's extra revealed while using E.

Because he has an ultimate level ability as a non-ult slot that lets him gank other lanes, practically from level 2(although it would likely be dumb to take E at level 2).

And no, done right, that ball is not easy to dodge. I've made it wider than a lane before. Especially later game, it's like trying to sidestep Amumu ult. An Amumu ult that can fire past Amumu's location.

Aurelion Sol is designed to be a gank monster, and a fight starter. Unfortunately for him, that's really all he does, and there aren't enough item slots to support his playstyle properly.

Roam, dude roams so well. And its kinda fun to leesin teams with his EQRQ or flash QRQ becase aoe, slows and many a times ya get the stun for it as well. His W is great in teamfights and he scales well with items. His lane is weak, his utility is strong, his counters hurt but his late game can hurt more.

AurelionSol To become a good player.

Becuase a good Aurelion Sol turns the tables of almost every teamfight even if he had a bad laning.
