The more it feels terrible and unrewarding to play mechanically intensive champions.

What is the point of trying really hard to do something that another champion can do in like two clicks of a button.

Individual play doesn't seem to mean anything anymore and it kinda sucks.

I feel like I've seen this exact topic before but the other way around.

What is the point of playing simple champions that are good at one job when there are other champions out there that do the same job but better and can do a million other things?

Something like that anyway. It's funny that everyone's being intentionally vague when they talk like this though no matter what side of the argument you're on.

There is still plenty of impact from individual play, they've done absolutely nothing to change that.

So plenty, in fact, that if you are late to the party you may as well go home.

Preach. It feels horrible playing champs that require you to perform a combo flawlessly and not seeing any extra reward over the guy that has 4 point and click abilities.

This is why most pro games involve semi-easy heroes, usually with the exception of Azir.

Problem is, almost every hard champion and very high reward(azir) was nerfed into oblivion, and when their mediocre, even when played well, people just stop playing them.

basicly what happened to riven.

Riven has been a super strong pick for a long time. Currently sitting on a 50%+ winrate for peoples first 10 games on her, and 53%+ for her mains.

It's still really early to complain about single champions being bad. The new rune system affected every single champion in the game, and expecting rito to look at every single champion in only 2-3 patches is insane.

Already a ton of stuff on the pbe. Bruiser and Yasuo buffs rn. If Riven really is as bad as you say she is she could also get a buff.

My point is, that Riven isn't "bad" because Rito had to nerf her due to her being too effective on skilled players. The Riven "nerf" is a by-product of huge changes that affected the whole game, you can't possibly look at this as a nerf directed from Riot.

But thats it she doesnt need a buff she needs a good keystone they could buff her from here to china town and it still wouldnt solve anything.

Riven already has better options than a lot of other champions. I really don't see why a normal buff wouldn't be good enough.

Tell me what options does she have?

Seen a lot of eletrocute and kleptomancy, even one going summoner specialist and one going predator. But that wasn't my point at all (No idea why you are even asking tbh). Sure, Rivens' options for keystones may not be perfect, but compare it to my own former mains Nunu and Ivern, and you will probaly see that her options really aren't that bad.

To be fair, a lot of Riven's power comes from animation canceling. That was originally a bug. But using and abusing that bug was so popular, it was made a core part of he gameplay and identity. How exactly do you balance a champion around the abuse of a bug, and not run into other issues because of it?

They can start by actually making a good keystone instead of replacing one.

Why should I play simple champions who are only good at a single thing when I can just play overloaded cancers who are allowed to be good at absolutely everything just because they are "hard to play" and "mechanically intensive". A fucking monkey could learn to play every champion in league, it just takes 5 games to learn Rammus and 105 games to learn Yasuo, the end result is the same - you can play that champion to its fullest potential, of course different people have different potential to play depending on IQ, reflexes, arm muscle accuracy and stuff like ping and FPS.

That's what I've been saying...

Azir > Xayah ?

I don't think so.

Because the modern league is predicated on being a game that is playable by everyone so they can make more money

So riot takes as much skill out of the game as possible, generalises as much as possible, and voila, thats league in a nutshell

Remember kids: game companies now days are more answerable to shareholders and stakeholders than they are to their very own customers! Just like banks! And loan sharks! :D

The thing is (or what Riot is trying/should be trying to do) mechanically intensive champions should be more versatile than their non mechanical counterparts. For example, Janna can peel better than Thresh, but Thresh can engage better, while still peeling, and having his own unique ways of doing so.

What is the point of trying really hard to do something that another champion can do in like two clicks of a button.

This is the kind of ideas that cripples game balance.

Champs who have more clicks can do MORE things, ie being more flexible. That is already your reward.

Stop asking for your ""mechanically intensive"" champions to be BOTH superior in utility and sheer raw stats. This is why this game, along with many other competitive games, end their game balance in a complete ditch, because of people like you.

This is why this game has, or at least had, such a big mobility creeping and overloading issues, because of people like you.

This is why this game has such a big problem where picks like Master Yi is intentionally kept in a complete gutter even if he already has literally 0 utility whatsoever, but is somehow also not allowed to do any damage he's designed to do and only do as a damage specialist; because of this "oh no so ez" kind of argument.

This is why this game has (or had) such a big balance issue in pro scene where unless the blatantly broken, most of the pick there is yet another ""mechanically intensive"" champ stealing the show. I mean who wouldn't pick someone who is a generalists that is good across a wide range of tasks, and is somehow just as good or even better than specialists in their specific areas of expertise?

Stop it!

.................

If your response is that pros don't actually use the hardest champs a lot of times, you're right, the reason is that though, the game is so rigid due to very strict meta there is hardly any use for flexibility. That's not the fault to the design balance between champs with more and less buttons.
