Going to try to give honest advice (mostly because you sound like a really nice guy), if this feels condescending or elitist, feel free to ignore it. As someone who's played since S1 and made it into G5 off promos this season...

Wards are tricky sometimes in that you have to know where to place them, how to use them, and watch the vision areas you've created. The timings on when to ward defensively versus offensively, sweep important ward spots, and knowing when your opponents' trinkets are down can require a lot of experience and thought.

On top of this, if you can't trust your allies to watch the map, your warding pattern has to change to be more selfish to compensate. If you're split pushing top, your enemies' jungle should be lit up in strategic spots and you might completely neglect to put any vision on Baron. This will keep YOU safer and make your performance more effective.

And then we get into the general advice with climbing in solo queue. Pick a position or two. Pick a couple champions. Those are your mains. Doesn't matter who they are, if they're OP or UP, if they're meta or not, as long as they're not permabanned. If you have fun playing them, that will make climbing easier and less stressful. Play these champions at every opportunity. Work on your mechanics like warding, watching the map, positioning, teamfighting, and CS. If need be, make sure you can cover the other roles and play them decently. Master all of these, you should be out of ELO Hell and on your way to Gold/Plat in no time.
