@Meddler Are there any plans for Ezreal and Lucian?

They have been the most prominent picks since the beginning of January, and there's no sign of that not being the case. Do you think they are outshining others by a large margin, or are simply picked up for being the two safest picks among the marksmen class? As a support main, I'm personally bored out of my mind of supporting and facing the same two champions in the vast majority of my games. Occassionally, I'll see a Caitlyn or Jhin, but rarely will I ever see anyone else.

Personally, I think Lucian's Relentless Pursuit and Ezreal's Mystic Shot should receive the same treatment Miss Fortune's Strut and Taric's Bravado. Where stacking cdr effectively reduces the amount Lucian's auto attacks reduce Relentless Pursuit's cooldown, as well as reducing Ezreal's Mystic Shot reducing his other abilities' cooldown.

Hell, I'm starting a match right now where I'm supporting Lucian, facing Ezreal. It's been 5 months, Meddler. Can we please do something about the severe lack of diversity in bot lane? :( Even top and jungle is lacking diversity. I don't mean to be negative, but it'd be nice to see what yours and Riot's stance is on Ezreal and Lucian being prominent picks.

Ah yes, i know the feels. But at least im seeing a bit more of Corki, MF, Jinx, and Cait.

Still, Lucian Ez seem "guaranteed" to pop up in most of the matches im my elo.

lower elo is where less strong adcs can work except all the LCS WANNABEs in my elo wont stop playing champions they arent capable with.

The thing about Ezreal and Lucian being power picks is that they are not particularly difficult champions. People can overcome lucians short range in lane with his sheer power advantage over most other adc's, and ezreal can be played so safely without giving up much if any cs that his sometimes lackluster earlygame is hardly worth caring about.

basically they are both easy enough AND power picks, so w/e.

I get pissed when all the shitters are spamming vayne or kog bc OPOP and they just die bc they don't know what to give up for cs. Not that I am any better, that's A) why I dont play ADC much if at all, and B) why I avoid the harder adc's like the plague.

I cringe when I see Lucian not using double tap and just spam abilities I cringe when I see Ezreal always sitting with 0 mana in lane failing to last hit

Throwback to the time my brother explained to me that he used to use Darius ult to gapclose for his W so that he could save his E for if they dash / flash.

the forward thinking is there the creativity is there but he forgot to buy his Dorans Logic when he left base

Honestly I'm tired but f being burst down by a bloody Lucian and not being able to much about it becaus he is Lucian and I'm someone else. And also really tired having most boring lane of my life supporting or vsing an ezreal cuz you just won't kill him even with the most lethal supports like blitzcrank or Leona

I've also seen a lot of Ezreal mid, too, the majority of time they are AD. They seem like people who select ADC as their primary role but do not get it. Or are people who pick Ezreal just for the sake of picking it. I don't know. If at least they built AP...

TBH AP Ezreal is only really gated by his SHIT waveclear. If you remember runeglaive Ezreal summoner 11 mid, you would understand what happens the second ezreal gets non-ult waveclear on an AP build.

AD Ezreal does not have waveclear either. He is better at last hitting, though. And he can buy item 3025 which lets him waveclear a but better but not that much. However, AP Ezreal is still a better choice for late game teamfights.

Yeah but since he builds AD he can use his attack speed buff to push waves much faster.

They aren't outshining anyone really. They are just really safe as you mentioned and fit into most comps easily. Most adcs can be played with any comp but they cannot be played easily against certain comps, like dive comps for instance. That's why Ezreal, Lucian, and Cait are played so much. Relatively safe amd strong laning phases along with good mobility. The only reason trist isn't that popular is because her laning pbase is pretty bad and often has trouble csing. I honestly don't think there is any op adc atm.

Why nerf something that's fun and not super powerful?

Ezreal item 3025 item 3042 item 3036 might be fun to play, i guess (if you like being the scum of the earth) but it is also extremely powerful atm, simply gated by a mediocre early game (pre-gauntlet) in the hands of an inexperienced player.

Lucian is seeing recent surges in playrate and winrate due to Lucian item 3071 item 3142

Yea Gotta def watch lucian's with the kr build flooding in but ezreal isn't anything breakingly OP pretty balanced stat from what I'm seeing. Just reliable and people don't wanna see one champ more than him being insanely strong.

It just makes me sad that I can't do my favorite Ezreal build Ezreal item 3078 item 3508 item 3031 item 3087 item 3072 without getting flamed for not going blue ezreal.

As far as I know, triforce crit-ezreal was not nerfed AT ALL but ppl still get all pissy if you build it these days. Basically I can manage myself on for ADC the occasion I play it is Lucian or Ezreal item 3078 which kinda plays right into your post but hell they are the easiest for me to play when i get stuck there as a jungle main so fuck it

I don't know why people don't like this build, I actually consider this build to be better than blue Ezreal. It has higher damage overall, and while Blue Ezreal lets him kite better, Ezreal already kites well enough with a Triforce + his E.

It is trickle-down, really.

Start with high elo / pro play: -the meta calls for carry junglers atm (often ranged) which means that overall team damage is generally higher. -when we have high sustained damage coming from another position, we can opt for slightly lower damage with utility at both mid and adc. -high elo playes pick up blue ezreal bc their team wont lack damage and it offers utility. -everyone sees high elo players do this and assumes that blue is flat-out better by its own merit.

Blue is not better by its own merit, but it is also not strictly worse. Blue is only better when teams are generally doing enough damage to compensate.
