Here's what I think Riot needs to do with Lee Sin
Everyone typically misses the real problem with him. Often times, you'll hear about him being overloaded and maybe that's true but let's keep in mind that Lee Sin is the most needed champion in history and by every metric we have, Lee Sin does fall off late games -as soon as 25 minutes in fact. Despite all these claims of overloaded and unbalanced, we still have a champion that is incredibly snowball dependent and as a result, ends up being incredibly feast or famine. Think about it, for every time you've been stomped by a Lee, how many times has your Lee been useless and afk farmed and by the time he tries to apply pressure, it's too late? I'd wager it evens out.
You have to ask yourself: what does this mean? I've always maintained that Lees biggest problem is too much of his damage is invested in his Q. His W/E really don't matter all that much. It helps with his ganking but in terms of damage, it really doesn't offer much. His R is strong early and if he's fed, it continues to be strong but let's be honest, that's the nature of most ultimates. So what you end up having his all this damage invested into one spell and it creates this binary pattern of play. Early game if he lands it, there's no question he's going in. If he's fed, there's no question he's going in. If he's not fed, if it's past lane phase and he hasn't snowballed then it's usually the opposite. And deep down, truly, this is the root of all of Lees problems.
What I propose is this: transfer some of Lees power from his Q to his W/E. give him more durability but make his burst much lower. Let him have sustained damage but make that the focus of his kit. There's nothing fun or well designed about a highly mobile champion who bursts you extremely quickly. This is basically why old Kassadin got completely changed. This is why Zeds ult has its pop, giving you room to actually respond. Lee can never be balanced as a burst champion. Because there's isn't this room to play around Lee. Yes I know, dodge his Q but I will point you back to the top and propose that question again: is that really healthy gameplay? Obviously I'd argue otherwise.
I realize snowball based champions are a part of this game. And I don't mind champions snowballing but even when well desinged champions like Zed get ahead, there's always room to play around him. That simply isn't true with Lee because of his Q and it's poor power investment.
I suspect that if you made this change, you could virtually allow Lee to keep everything in his kit and to maintain his identity while making him a much healthier champion.
