How to Deal With Ranked Shortly After a New Release

  1. Avoid ranked play altogether unless, of course, you don't mind losing LP to A. Someone trying new things with a new champion in a role that doesn't really fit the champion or B. Someone rage trolling because the new champion got banned, preventing them from trying new things with a new champion in a role that doesn't really fit the champion.

  2. That's pretty much it. The only counter play to trolls is to avoid them. Unless, of course, Riot decides to disable new champions in ranked for the first two weeks after its release, but they won't because it might affect the skin sales of their new product.

I have no friends, I'm at that stage in my life at which point I realize friends are just people who have yet found reason to betray me in one way or another. Based on personal experience, of course. But maybe yours is the solution for those who've better luck than I with relationships.

No, I mean that you can play alone in Flex Queue without feeling as much pressure about losing MMR to trolls.

How about simply playing with the new Champ on your/the opponents team and learn what it does? Nobody has a clue about the new one so nobody can play it properly, but also nobody can play against it properly.

Someone who wents 0-10 with a new would (most likely) have gone at least 0-8 with anything else. Someone who wents 10-0 on the opponents would have (most likely) crushed you on his main as well.

After a bunch of games you can realize:

  • The new one is so freaking busted it needs to be banned if you dont have first pick - Explain your selfe and ban it - most will at least understand why.
  • The new one is completely garbage and you dont want to play with it until the hotfixes come in - Explain your selfe and ban it - most will understand why.
  • The new one is ok to deal with on both sides (like Neeko, btw) - no reason to waste a ban on it at all.

Can't speak for others - but I prefer learning how to play against a new Champ against someone who has no clue what he does. NOT against someone who has 100 games on the new one, knows the best build and most of tricks you can do while I see that damn thing for the first time on the Rift since some idiots permabanned it in my games for 2 weeks straight!!!!!

I almost exclusively play rankeds since the end of Season2. I First-Timed like 80% of the entire champion roaster in ranked and most of the time noone even realized it!
