Where Is The Counter-play To Vlad?

This guy has literally 0 counter play at all during the lanning phase all he has to do is spam Q get stupid amounts of health back on a low a fk cooldown all while being manaless there is literally 0 you can do to this guy cause if you do any sort of damage to him he heals it back up instantly then offers you no chance to poke him down, no chance to have him use his mana, there is 0 and I mean 0 counter-play to this guy.

Even if you get a gank or catch him out he will just press W and the go under tower while being untargetable, I honestly don't know who at Riot went lets have a champion that has a stupid heal and has low health cost abilities, why can't he have real cost to his Q and E like ZAC where it costs % of his health not this low costs of:

Q) 0 W) 20%
E) 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 HEALTH R) 0

Riot are you serious a champion with infinite sustain that has no cost to it what so ever? example how that is fair, honestly where is there any and i mean any counter-play to that, it 0 counter-play while offering free damage and free sustain with little to no risk as its a point and click ranged ability with 600 range, so unless he is vs Caitlyn he can always be in range to use it wile take little or no punishment for it.

Someone honestly tell me how on earth you can counter or play against this guy at all in the lane phase, honestly is there any counter-play at all to him.

Beating Vlad in lane requires aggressive, proactive laning which requires a level of courage and understanding that many League players do not have. Vlad's early game is extremely weak because his Q is on a very long CD, he has no spell vamp yet, and he's a slow AP with autos that do nothing. So attack him constantly. Pretty much any melee champion can bully him early, especially ones with sustain of their own. (Renekton, Fiora) Any melee with low CD gap closers dominate him. (Jax, Irelia, Riven) Any ranged AD champion dumps on him early since they will massively win auto trades. (Vayne, Gnar) Any AP with a strong early all in can zone him very easily. (Cass, Syndra, Leblanc)

This.

I would also suggest Garen and spinning on his face every chance you get.

Pooled away? Great, he paid health to do so and your cooldowns come back up faster than his do.

Tryndamere works marvelous on Vladimir in lane it feels pretty much one sided

Tryndamere Has sustain? Check. Low CD gap closer? Check. Is AD? Check. Strong early all in? Check. Can snowball and push a lead? Massive check. Sounds good to me.

The funny thing is he's known to have a bad time in lane against most top laners because he does absolutely zero damage pre-6 He's just really strong right now because he fits the meta really well, he also has loooooooong cd's early game

explain how

MAGIC DAMAGE: 90 / 125 / 160 / 195 / 230 (+ 60% AP)

that is weak, that is stronger than most abilities for top laners and has a great scaling aswell so how exactly is he weak and does no damage?

For example Maokais Q which is a skillshot does

MAGIC DAMAGE: 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+ 40% AP)

So looking at those Vlad has more damage till level 4 and 5 but gets much more scaling by that point so how is he weak?

Maokais Q is also and AOE that displaces you cant compare it to vlads queue. This is like saying "This sandwich is better than all the other sandwiches" and as proof you hold up a turnip.

The AoE doesn't matter, he's arguing for oppressive damage range and CD which happens to be the relevant data for trades in toplane.

Unless the ability CCs the entire wave Riven Jax Chogath , it's AoE is not relevant in lane.

Vlad is very slow and short ranged, especially if he doesn't take ghost. Remember also that he is more of a mage than a bruiser(in most cases). Don't let his larger-than-average health bar scare you, he is still very weak to strong dps and being picked off. Oh and he has no scaling mr, so your apc should melt him. Morello's hurts him too.

In lane you should be punishing him before he gets WotA. His sustain isn't actually that great at just revolver. His q isn't maxed out and he has no cdr, meaning he can't keep up his e stacks without hurting himself. Pushing him in early can force him to use e when he can't afford to early. You can bait his pool and just walk away when he uses it to win a trade. It's health cost is pretty big.

You can counterpick him with champs that have strong kill potential in lane, such as Jax, Wukong, Irelia, Riven, Cho'Gath Pantheon, Xin Zhao(absolutely destroys Vlad) or tanks that can brush off his poke and scale well, such as Maokai, Sion, Malphite, Nasus, Hecarim, Mundo.

If none of this helps just pick Swain or Malz. Dump all your spells and ignite on him and you win lane.

Fight him when his Q is down ( he is bad, he used it on a minion )

Bait out his W ( ganks, like every other toplaner; or he's bad again )

Run when you have R on you ( if he lets you do that, he's probably bad )

The counterplay is, hope that Vlad is bad.

What is this, 2012?

He is hard to kill in lane, but he also has no kill pressure in lane. Just farm, be more useful in teamfights, and win.

item 3027 item 3027 item 3027 item 3027 this is the item people get when they have no idea what there building

cause i will always be playing an AP champion in the top lane against him, or playing Cho'Gath so he can only be countered by playing certain champions, sounds like lots of counter-play there.

I play Team Builder there is no draft.

I don't think Vlad really has much counterplay in lane, it's why they don't like him being good. His counterplay comes later in the game where either extremely high DPS (think Cass) or standard burst (any other mage) will murder him but even that's often limited because he's one of the champs who has a free Zhonya's in their kit. From what I've seen what you need to do with Vlad in a team fight is scare him into using his defensive mechanisms, focus the rest of his team while he's hiding and then finish him off when he's back up, but that's far from effortless.

No idea what to suggest in lane but Omiwom has a post which might help, I think he has some good points.

Early game he has very long cooldowns and low base damages. You can kill him, and if he pools, you have a long time to deny him cs while it's down.

I mean... it's Vlad we're talking about: no gapcloser, no CC, not even a move speed buff.

Burst damage. Sustain champs have alwags been countered by burst damage and vlad is no exception. If you are going to run cho/mao/etc into him naturally you will never kill himbut run someone with some burst who can blow him up and its very easy to shut him down.

Blue Collar Bear1 votes

It just depends on how you play. Are you trying to win lane, or solo kill him?

If you are trying to solo kill him, having someone with an extreme amount of burst early on is going to be a good thing. Rengar's level two burst is nearly unmatched, if you run AD runes and 21/9 masteries. Someone with sustain and sustained damage may also not be a bad idea. The first two that come to mind are Trundle and Fiora, since they can just repetitively all in Vladimir again and again.

If you're trying to win lane, then all you need to do is survive, be more useful, and come out of your lane stronger. Any champion that can farm safely away from his poke will be a good idea, as well as anyone that can out sustain him. Since a majority of my experience is with Rengar, I can personally attest that you can win lane by rushing a Spirit Visage and maxing W first. You out sustain him, out trade him, and roam better than him.

vlad is pretty much immune to poke in lane, so the only way to beat him is to find a timing to all-in him and either kill him or drop him low enough on hp that he can't approach minions to sustain back up for fear of being finished off if your champion doesn't have a kit that allows for an all-in kill against vlad... 'sucks to be you' is pretty much the situation you're in, farm up and teamfight later on...
