Is there any room for casuals anymore?

I used to be a huge League player back around the launch of season 3. Around the most current season I kind of just stopped, picked up some other games (like overwatch and currently waiting for the new WoW expansion) and every now and then I might play a league match. But because I have't played in a long time, I'm rusty. I also am bored of the "meta" of just picking fotm, whatever is "good". I like to watch videos of stuff like "you won't believe this actually works" type of things. And I won't pick crazy things like Sona adc, I mean like Eve top, jungle Akali maybe, but whenever I do this type of thing I get nothing but flame. And the moment I screw up once the entire game is apparently my fault? Even though I had 0 influence in my bot lane going like 1-10. In the end of a 20-40 minute match I end up feeling like it was a chore and not a game.

Tldr: Is this game just not for casual players anymore?
