@Repertoir any buffs to Rumble planned?

Ahristocats··7 votes·4,518 views

it's nice that you guys think about the worst champions in league like jhin or volibear

but ever since you doubled his Q cd in lane (which was needed) he was literally one of the worst champ ever, with like 1% pick rate and 46% win rate

what if we reduce rumble's ult cast time from 0.5 to 0.25 second?

his Q and W are instant, his E has 0.25 sec cast time Rumble is a kiting champion that uses low delay spells so why make his ult cast time so long?

Actually yes. Hopefully 8.6. Not sure what the direction the buffs will be. Waiting for the investigation to get going.

Okay it feels good to know that the balance team is not forgetting him! In your investigation if i can suggest as a small Rumble player: try to look over his base stats (that can use to be bigger) or his R cast time

Hey Repertoir, i know I'm thread jacking here but could i ask if you have any plans for Warwick

Personally I feel like Rumble's shield needs buffed more than anything right now. It's very weak and lasts for a very short time. If anything, buffing the base shield or AP Ratio for the shield I feel would be acceptable.

Might I suggest something to investigate?

What would happen if Rumbles shield gave him a fixed direction when pressing it (ie you can move any direction but Rumble still face the direction he was at W activation), pressing W again unlocks the facing lock.

This would allow Rumble to kite while using Q and to do Q/E "drivebuys" and it would fit pretty well with W hower animation.

I used to play quite a bit of Mechwarrior back in the days and I've always felt that the "turned torso and moving in an other direction" is a bit of a classic mech move and an missed opportunity in Rumbles mech fantasy.

Thanks for reading

I liek this for the counterplay value.

Add on that the shield drops when you recast and suddenly it's a buff and a nerf. Which is what I personally think he needs more than just straight buffs.

I'm really really glad that you guys didn't forget about Rumble. I've got about 3k Rumble games on my back, but even I am currently struggling winning games with him. Rumble

What I would like to see:

  • Give him back initial damage on his ult (many times you don't even get an assist, even though you landed your ult directly onto the enemy). With the many dashes we have nowadays, other champs can easily dash out of your ult, so a little bit of initial damage is needed.
  • Reduce Q CD at early levels. I really liked playing Rumble jungle, but since the Q cd at lvl 1 was nerfed from 6 to 10 seconds, it was almost impossible to clear your jungle fast enough to compete with other champs.
  • Increase his shield duration back to 2 seconds. Rumble isn't tanky at all, compared to other bruisers. He needs some survivability and his shield is his only option. I think it's only fair to increase the duration or atleast buff the numbers a little bit.

the shield duration buff can happen (or buff his base stats)

initial damage on ult was cancerous and i hope it doesn't come back it also reduced rumble's skillcap significantly

It was a problem back then because the damage was 50% of his Ultimate's total damage. That's obviously too high.

However; it also makes no sense that a literal impact of explosive rockets deals 0 damage on impact. Especially with mobility creep. In it's current state; there's a real argument to not even take The Equalizer at 6 in some situations [Mobile enemy laner so it does nothing; and you're TP is down so you're not going to be fighting? Might as well take another Q for reduced c/d and more damage.]

Also; having no impact damage reduces Rumble's skillcap; not increase it. As Rumble's R currently stands; it's solely a zone control tool. When it did impact damage you had to balance the Zone Control and DoT with the impact damage. That sounds like a HIGHER skillcap to me; since you have to balance both uses and try to land the ultimate in a way that makes use of both.

The Equalizer could easily do an extra immediate tick of damage to any champions caught in the rockets explosions. Or even half a regular tick. So it could apply a ministun [0.5 sec] because; you know you're caught in an explosion.

However; I'd still rather make Rumble's W an actual ability if one were to buff Rumble. As it stands it's an ability you might take at Lv 4 and it might be useful then, but you're certainly not touching it after Lv 4, and mobility creep also makes it pretty useless pretty quickly at Rank 1. There's even a case for skipping W entirely for a 2nd point in E to aid lasthitting and harass [Which; since Swain's rework; Rumble is probobly the hardest champion to lasthit wit with the exception of maybe pre-6 Anivia.] Especially since spamming W can also overheat you quickly and mean you get less damage abilities out. It's pretty bad when a champion has an ability where it's a serious consideration to not put points into it until you are forced.

Even just making his ult deal 50 damage on impact would help a lot.

I was a dedicated Rumble jungle main before 7.12. That patch destroyed him as a jungler. I do not see why this was necessary. Rumble was not a problem champion in either role; he did not merit such drastic changes.

Please, go to r/rumblemains for suggestions. There are a few high elo (not me) rumble players eager to help! I do not play on this account mostly.

Any possibility of Visual update of base model?

Currently EUW Diamond 1 rumble otp, I don't think hes in a bad spot right now. The biggest issue is the fact that junglers are too strong early, and there are plans to change that already, so that might be enough. Right now you just have to avoid early ganks, then you are pretty strong. I hope the buffs won't be too huge, might easily make him perma pick or ban.

Yea, that's a big one. Rumble has literally no escapes, when you're just a bit too far into the lane and you get ganked, you're basically dead. I would really welcome a change to his W. Maybe a short, but bigger burst of speed, or a small leap/dash.

Have you guys ever thought of adding a better reward incentive for experienced Rumble players for fully utilizing the heat bar's potential? I'm talking about not simply "increasing abilities' numbers by 50% upon reaching 50 heat" but more utility for a champion that's really all about damage and slows. A battlemage champion with extremely little mobility and very squishy base stats for a melee champion. This leaves him very vulnerable in games in general(moreso when behind) with the little utility he has other than his slows and minuscule shield.

His kit is simply screaming huge potential among the sea of new champions that get various ways of overcoming some of their weaknesses if the player is skilled and experienced enough. However Rumble is starting to show his age with his outdated kit and very little room for outplay potential when this heat management we got going on doesn't seem to do much aside from just telling us to "do more damage". For a considerable 'complex' champion, I can't help but think he seems kinda close to being binary even though he's obviously not which is why I think he has so much more potential and deserves to get his passive buffed more than anything.

As for what OP mentioned about his Ultimate's cast time? I don't think that's a problem at all and will barely change a thing. If anything that's just a band-aid fix more than anything.

The last time you guys nerfed Rumble's Ultimate was when you made his Ultimate cooldown higher. I thought this was great personally, as a Rumble main. Why? Because I was hoping it would make you guys at Riot realize he's nothing but an Ult-bot past a certain point in the game and would consider getting a closer look at the rest of his kit that seems flawed. He has the ratios to be an AP Carry and yet he's extremely limited by his range and his vulnerability to cc and with the cc-chain fests and everyone carrying extreme mobility these days, he's really falling out of any meta other than just being an Ult-bot for his team and let everyone else do everything else.

I'm not asking Rumble to be some assassin or anything like that but give us more incentive to reach 50 heat because overheating right now happens way too quickly with very little reward for having abilities in dangerzone prior to overheating.

I've wrote a lot of ideas here on the forums before but most of the time they've been ignored and downvoted(presumably from people that don't play him and dislike him). I really hope you'll look at his dangerzone mechanic's potential increasing his skill ceiling and ability to carry more and harder. At this point I don't even care about any skins anymore. I just want my buddy Rumble to get a change that will reflect on my skill level to make outplays rather than my opponent's abilities to pick a champion that has every sort of utility and outplay potential while doing ridiculous amounts of damage while they are of a similar skill level as myself and stomping with less effort.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Rumblemains/comments/47i5ol/would_hp_damage_on_rumble_be_what_could_finally/ These are old ideas I posted before and while I have newer and better suggestions nowadays since then, I still hope this can kinda give you guys at Riot an idea of what to do with him.

Please revert the 7.12 changes. They have been entirely damaging in the top lane and absolutely ruinous in the jungle. It's the only way I see to return him to relevance in BOTH roles.

Rumble wasn't a problem to begin with, and the changes just haven't worked out; they've severely demoted him in relevance and viability, and made him less fun to play. You guys reverted your Kog'Maw rework. For the sake of Rumble mains and others who simply enjoy playing him, please consider doing the same for the Mechanized Menace.

I think the decrease in R cast delay is a gold idea.

Rexxiee2 votes

That buff would do nothing to get him out of the gutter.

Rumble needs his laning phase back really, he has always fall off super late game so hes more of a mid game team fight champ, and like all mid game champs without a strong lane they cant get to the point to carry the game itself before falling off.

GayFluffyUnicorn2 votes

But then you end up with rumble being picked every fuckin game high elo and pro play again afk waveclearing for days. Don't think anyone wants that back. What you need to do is buff him in a way that doesn't make him this cancerous piece of shit in lane autowinning every melee matchup. That's why rubick suggested ways to help him outside of laning phase which honestly is the right attempt to do so.

Rumble won't be constantly picked as long as there are strong ranged toplaners such as Gnar that can bully him.

Also; Rumble kinda autoloses the lane to Second Wind + Spectre's Cowl. In fact; getting clipped by Flamespitter can literally heal you. If the laner has sustain on top of this the matchup gets insanely difficult for Rumble. And given how awful Rumble is at CS'ing, a lane simply being a farmlane is a loss for Rumble. You WILL come out lower on CS if you cannot drive your enemy away.

Champions such as Nasus are melee matchups that Rumble cannot win at all. Seriously; pick Nasus with Second Wind mastery against Rumble; rush a Cowl and just watch him cry as he throws healing fire at you and if he dares get close gets smacked by your cane. The only way Rumble beats ANY melee matchup where the melee has sustain is if the melee dosen't know the matchup and how to wreck Rumble; which is fairly common given how uncommon a pick Rumble is.

Not to mention his lack of mobility and the fact his harass pushes the wave makes him gank bait.

I am a viktor/rumble main I hope you take more of the player concepts here than you did when you did this for viktor, both champions really only need quality of life buffs

Melon Nub2 votes

For me it feels like shielding a healing supports completely negate his ult, I think it needs something besides damage or maybe more damage, if I am play a champion that is almost fully based round his r it should feel impactful to hit a good R. Most champions now can just jump out of it or heal of get shielded through the damage

Come As You Are2 votes

Have any of you ever played Rumble? His ult cast time is okay, his problems is huge cooldowns, with lower damage than he should have at all.Rumble Just decrease q cd, and make shield last for more, so he can jungle again.

Axantucar2 votes

Please PLEASE revert the 7.12 nerfs! These made Rumble FAR less fun to play, far less rewarding of mechanical mastery of the champion, far harder to play in lane, and killed him off entirely from the jungle. Rumble has always been a champion with a high skill floor and a high skill ceiling. Since 7.12, he's simply been weak. That rework changed everything about him, and none of it for the better; the only players it benefited were those who simply hated playing against Rumble.

Please, just revert those changes and we'll be golden!

what if we reduce rumble's ult cast time from 0.5 to 0.25 second?

I have never found issue with the cast time of Rumble's ult. With a bit of time in the practice tool, it is not difficult to hit. This buff will not help him. His issues lie entirely elsewhere.
