Riot, do you actually think people enjoy watching professional games end in 20 minutes?

Because I hate to break it to you, but they don't. No one will find any interest in Worlds this year if every single game is decided after 5 minutes because blue team already has 7 kills to 0 and they already took bot turret. This isn't exciting. Sure, it's fast paced, but it's also incredibly boring watching one team just eat the other alive for 20 minutes. People want to see games (not all of them, but most of them) stretch out up to 40-50 minutes, where the game is filled with teamfighting and Faker-level plays. We want to see teams which just play better win the game, not just pick stronger champions. You balance your game around pro play and still fail at that. What a shame.

It's also the same thing with sports. For example, with soccer, if all of a sudden the Premier League (or MLS because this is NA boards) had all the games end in utter domination, and 15-0 wins every single time, people would lose interest. Sure, it's good to see every once in a while. when a team gets completely outplayed, but no one wants this to happen every time, because it gets boring.

Riot you need to admit that your balance team hasn't got a clue what they are doing. And no, giving more skins to Ezreal and Miss Fortune will not make us forgive you for the absolutely shocking seasons we've had since pre-season 6.

What professional game did you see that ends at 20 minutes because blue team was ahead by 7 kills? Can you link the VOD so we can see? Because the majority of the games I've seen have been 40+ minutes.

But this is what they are aiming for. They want games to end straight away because apparently it's more 'exciting' and 'fact-paced'

Prove it. Show me a professional game where the game ends at 20 min, or where Riot has said that they want games to end straight away. You have no proof. Even in your own ranked games (yes we can see those) the majority of games last longer than 30 minutes.

Because I hate to break it to you, but they don't.

Except they do as evidenced by League of Legends' popularity on Twitch (being one of if not the most watched game of all time) the success of the LCS streams over the last few months, and the positive reception and hype for Worlds/eSports in general.

Just because you don't like the state of the game doesn't mean other people feel the same.

(And I say this as someone who has never watched any competitive League.)

I mean, OP's technically not lying in that bit. Most people wouldn't like to see a game end in 20 minutes.

However, the implication that they do end that fast is blatantly wrong.

You can't say that for certain unless it actually happened. I doubt people would downright hate it, although I could see viewership dropping a bit. Enough to change the rate back.

I can't say for certain, no, but I'm reasonably sure that it'd be significantly disliked.

No no that was still around 40 minutes i believe (after the other team was finished killing them over and over and stalling to get a better kda) or...14 minutes.

Contention ends before 20 minutes. Doesnt always mean the actual game is over. Either way its boring.
