My Initial Thoughts on Pyke

He's definitely a support. He's all the tools for getting the job done and getting his team fed and ahead.

His entire kit is based on providing the necessary crowd control for his team in order to eliminate enemy champions.

His ult allows him to dive onto enemies who think themselves safe only to end up executed for their foolishness. But it also provides equal kill gold to whoever helped him.

His camo allows him to scout ahead and ambush enemies as needed or back away quickly while alerting his allies to approaching threats, granting safe vision for his team.

What I like about this champion is the fact that he offers supports a chance to glimpse the work and life and role of an assassin while still staying true to their role. Pyke, in my opinion, may help educate the Support mains on how assassins actually operate and how best to counter them.

I got out of work, came home late, took a nice soak in the bath, and hopped onto league...

Played against him for the first time and honestly... it fucking sucked.

I don't know but the whole dash, hook, camo, and execution kit is kinda hard to play against...

Veigar I can try to punish him for miss-positioning with my E as many times as I want, but he'll either go camo to get out of the way of the edge so I can't aim my shit or dash away as his dash is pretty much longer than the radius of my cage.

I didn't notice it in the champ select as I usually ban Zed or Fizz, but someone on the boards said that Pyke isn't a ban option in ranked...

Thats a guaranteed Pyke in nearly every game then...

Dafuk do I do when I see him again???

In all seriousness though.

I can see how he is good at supporting a team, but he does become oppressive when ahead.

He can't do shit if you're behind minions. He can't hook you, and if you use terrain to your advantage, it's difficult for him to sneak up on you. His E's range is about the range of his detection radius, so if you see him, he's going to have difficulty stunning you. About the only way he'll catch you is in a heavy team fight, and his ult is also a skill shot, so you can move when you see it appear.

Oh no dude.

I don't have an issue with him catching me.

I have an issue catching him. (He has camo, dash and a blink... not to mention flash)

That whole being caught by Pyke business is something my team can deal with.

If you can't catch him, catch someone else. He's the support, after all. You should be focusing on the more pressing matter of the carries. If you can keep Pyke off of you, ignore him.

If he wasn't a ban option in ranked the boards would be in open revolt. It's likely the other team didn't have a Pyke yet (you can only ban champs the other team owns).

I've only played against him once, in ARAM, as a Blitzcrank. My first impression is that Pyke leaves little reason for Blitzcrank to exist. I had to very closely watch for his charge up in order to avoid a world of pain. Less useful without his hook, but I'd argue more helpful than a Blitzcrank without hook.

This can not and should no be true...is it? Why would you get tipped off during champ select about what champs the other team has?

Unless they changed it recently, it's true, and has been that way for years. Most of the time between 5 players they've got nearly all the champions anyway, so it rarely factors into decision, but it is slightly more likely when new champions are released since you're looking to ban something that isn't widely owned yet.

Let me flip the question around for you - would knowing the enemy team can't pick a Karthus effect your draft in any way? Keep in mind that if a team has a Karthus that doesn't mean their mid has a Karthus or even that they can play Karthus, just that someone owns Karthus. Likely not, since you're more concerned with what's likely to counter you, and likely counters are popular champions, which are usually owned.

Not me, but I am certified bronze trash. But at higher elo, it could factor in, they seem to pay attention to everything.
