Increase cost of support starting items.

Im tired and Im sure a lot of other people are tired of seeing the support drop to 2 bars of hp and then come back to full with an entire potion left to go. They are already hard enough to punish for aggression in lane. Not sure why they need three times the on demand sustain as well.

Supports usually end up with the least amount of gold in game because they dont get minion kills early game. they are typically squishy and even take skill shots to the face for their adc. supports are always last to finish their entire build because of their low gold early game. Try playing some support and then we'll see if you still think that

Woook3r1 votes

Yea. Ive played support quite a bit in the past week. Its the easiest role on SR. You cant carry for jack shit, but its easy as hell to do your job.

no. relic has barely any sustain at all. two extra pots is fucking massive tho.

So the adc getting 2 lifesteal masteries, a lifesteal item, one pot, and access to all of the farm isn't massive? You're serious? https://7373-presscdn-0-43-pagely.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/you-serious.gif

Woook3r1 votes
  1. Lifestealing off the wave gives a little hp...also invites ganks...not somethiing you want to do. Is also not something you can do under the tower, passivly, while you chug a potion. Its much more risky.

  2. Is that why dorans ring gets two potions? Cause it gives lifesteal masteries too?

  3. Why does an item like coin go with 3 pots? It gives 5 hp per minion death, the same as 5% life steal from every last hit would give.

Sniper 02 votes
  1. Lifestealing does invite ganks but the sustain off of it is still substantial. If you're having trouble in lane you pick up another CHEAP Doran's blade and get more lifesteal... You're trying to grossly underplay the amount of sustain it gives.
  2. Doran's ring gives you mana on minion kills and damage and hp, and decent ap. The support items are made with worse stats but generate gold to compensate because they're in a role that has access to little gold.
  3. Coin does not provide the hp that lifesteal provides. Supports can't buy defensively to start so it is made up for with 3 starting pots...

(side note, doran's shield needs something done imo, very few people find it viable because of the cost and stats) ;)

Someone got stomped by a Blitzcrank support I'm guessing?

I'm not going to pull rank because that would be useless. I've seen bronzies with great game knowledge. What you sir lack, is any actual game knowledge. You called Relic Shield sustain weak. You said support is the easiest role in the game. I'm sorry but you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

Lets look at this from a non in game standpoint. Putting more restrictions on supports would be idiotic to say the least, it's already the most undesired main in the game. You do anything to upset support mains and a lot of them are probably going to start maining something else. This would cause greater queue times.

{quoted}

how hard is it when you have to cs and babysit and punish the enemy? The support is easier because never has to cs. adc has a harder worst case lane.

Saw this little gem after finishing. cracks knuckles

As a support you must have

  1. Excellent vision control
  2. Excellent map awareness
  3. Excellent positioning
  4. Knowledge of the enemy jungle
  5. Awareness of enemy tp's The list goes on...

I would argue that you need this much more than your adc. You're there peal for a whiny brat 50% of the time and allow them to last hit which isn't that challenging with the masteries adc's have. You're an underpayed, overworked babysitter as a support.

Woook3r1 votes

"You do anything to upset support mains and a lot of them are probably going to start maining something else. This would cause greater queue times."

EXACTLY. DONT LET THE SUPPORTS HOLD US HOSTAGE. #4MAN-SUMMONERS-RIFT.

Sorry for all caps. Got a little excited. Ive been waiting for someone to say this first...calculated. [slayer-jinx-catface]

EDIT: had to turn it into a hashtag.

Sniper 02 votes

Supports aren't holding anyone hostage... lmao If people cared enough they would main support. The problem is the role already doesn't feel rewarding to most people because like I said... under-payed babysitter. Supports get no respect and generally they are treated like garbage. Kinda how you're treating them right now actually. I WAS WAITING FOR YOU TO SAY SOME STUPID SHIT LIKE THIS... CALCULATED [slayer-jinx-wink] Plus if you really need a support you can queue up with one. 4v4=stale gameplay....

Woook3r1 votes

4v4 is stale? u sure? how? 5v5 is sstale lets all play hexakill

Woook3r1 votes

did you downvote me? come on. that deserves a +1

cuddlykitten41 votes

I am a support main. I don't hold people hostage, I hold their fate in my hands. Very different. I can tell you right now that you wouldn't last a second in bot lane against a real support main because you, good sir, have no clue as to what you are talking about.

Woook3r1 votes

same can be said of the adc lol. gl hitting all of those trinket skillshots XD.

DrDiaga4 votes

Its just some of the things you say about supports simply aren't true.

And the statement that you "stomp lane" even with a bad ADC is obviously a lie.

And saying the most cash strapped class needs more expensive items is also dumb.

Dont you wonder why your downvoted to hell? Or is it just "salty support mains" like every other thread people don't agree with op.

Woook3r1 votes

so youre one of the "supports cant carry the game" types? Since you dont think i can win lane with a bad adc?

Woook3r1 votes

so youre one of the "supports cant carry the game" types? Since you dont think i can win lane with a bad adc.

also, coin plus 3 pots gives you 800 hp after about 10 minutes. How am I supposed to dps that sustain?

Beldair1 votes

you sir a fool. Supports end with the least amount of gold, Usually have little gold during the laning phase, and tend to be the least item dependant and you are wanting to increase the cost of their starting items when the starting items of others are around the same price. Doran's shield gives about the same health as Relic shield yet i hear nothing from you about it.

You can't fight a support early game, then you need to practice more.

Woook3r1 votes

The support has the advantage because they have 3 hp pots, and dont have to worry about csing. U cant fight someone whos only objective is to ruin your cs. Fighting them means you miss cs. Missing cs means they win....

Athenes Lulu4 votes

This thread makes these support "mains" whining about the current state of supports look like the smartest people ever.

Abyssphere3 votes

All of your posts basically seem to amount to "The class that can't do anything by themselves except get vision late game should also be vision bots in the laning phase that just stand there while their ADCS fight" and "The class that does by far the most damage to champions and structures late game should be as strong as everyone else early game". No shit the weakest class late has a good early and no shit the strongest class late has a crap early.

You are begging for Riot to take a class and tell its players that they're not allowed to feel empowered at any point of the game while telling the other class that they should feel like gods on Earth for the entirety of the game.

Woook3r1 votes

thats just miscommunication on my part then. my opinion is that supports belong in mid lane and all laners should have solo lanes. that makes summoners rift into a 4v4. 3 laners and one jg per team. I dont like that the support is crowding my lane.

And it is my lane. I take all the farm and the support is there to harass the enemy or something. I dont think you can argue with that. Bot lane does not belong to the support. It belongs to the adc, but guess who dominates the action there? It the supports...

Im not saying to remove supports from the game. just duo lanes.

UberAffe1 votes

are you really complaining about a support being able to buy too much ....

venomous frost1 votes

I think he's complaining about relic shield's sustain

Woook3r1 votes

no. relic has barely any sustain at all. two extra pots is fucking massive tho.

Ladrac1 votes

You gotta be kidding me, bro...

ApollyonBainer1 votes

I think adc's shouldn't get starting items because they do too much dmg to supports which can't heal cause they took our 3 pots away. no.

Woook3r1 votes

Considering that the supports do the most dmg in lane this is a bit silly to me.

ApollyonBainer1 votes

Good ADCs can poke both the enemy supp and ADC without missing much cs. I don't see much of a problem with this. Let your supp zone and take the damage for you while you attack them though. The earlier and more often you can capitalize on attacking the enemy lane lets you win the lane earlier. That's just what I think though, and this hasn't always worked out for me. Especially if there's a teemo supp X(

Lugg1 votes

I'm guessing that you never support.

Woook3r1 votes

No i do support and whenever i do i roflstomp the bot lane even if the adc feeds or cant farm. Last time I played soraka, I kept the enemy sivir at 25 farm at 10 min into the game. Last time I played viegar support, I had more ap than either midlaner, but yes my adc did feed his ass off trying to ks me repeatedly. Last time I played Naut support our kalista was 6/1 at 17 min and we got the surrender (if I remember correctly). Last time I played blitz I landed 7 hooks in a row.

Its the easiest role on SR and thats why I dont like it. I play adc because ITS HARD TO DO. I MAIN DRAVEN BECAUSE HE IS THE HARDEST ADC. FUCK YOUR GUESSES.

Lugg1 votes

Why are you taking kills as support when those need to go to your ADC? One once in awhile is understandable, but it sounds like you actively try to get the kills.

Kalista plus any tank is usually going to go 6/1 if they are competent at all. Blitz is easy if you are decent at skillshots.

Saying that support is the easiest role depends on how you look at it. Yeah, it's fun and easy not having to worry about CSing and being able to harass the enemy. But you also need to initiate fights, keep vision up, deny vision, help other lanes, etc depending on what kind of support you are playing. The hard part of playing ADC is positioning. If you can CS and position, you have ADC down.

It's great that you enjoy the challenge of playing Draven, but that isn't any excuse for being BM on the forums.

Woook3r1 votes

Why is my adc running up to ks when ive got the kill secured when that means that they end up dying for it? It doesnt sound like I activly get the kills unless you assume that there is something wrong with me, which you are doing.

"Kalista plus any tank is usually going to go 6/1 if they are competent at all. Blitz is easy if you are decent at skillshots." Yea. I know. Because support is easy and is easily the most dominant factor in the bot lane.

"Saying that support is the easiest role depends on how you look at it." No. It certainly is the easiest role. No one even focuses you, but if they do focus you then your team should easily win because its a waste of dmg, most of the time. As far as what you should be doing at any given time and how hard it is to execute that, then yea its the easiest by far. Never any harder than landing a skillshot. Most of the time its as easy as exhausting the assassin or dropping a ward onto a stationary bush (tough skillshot bro). The part that makes it seem difficult is that you cant actually carry a game unless you have a massive gold advantage, which the support never gets. From one perspective, its very hard to "get carried" because its not even something you do. Its something someone else does TO you and is actually impossible to do to yourself. However, difficulty due to lack of agency isnt difficulty. Its just non-feasibility.

Lugg1 votes

The supports job is to get their ADC fed. So of course they are going for it if you set up a kill. Granted they shouldn't die for it, but they must think you have the situation in their favor.

I also play ADC and I can have a garbage support and still win lane. Support is only dominant if the ADC sucks.

Once again you are wrong. If I'm facing a Sona or Soraka, i'm going to focus them first. Some supports provide damage, some utility, some CC. You go with what your team comp needs.

I just think you are looking at the role from a narrow view.

Woook3r1 votes

...would you walk up to 300 hp lucian with his q cooldown availible if you were an adc with 150 hp? Or would you let viegar just ult him? You already have a guaranteed assist. Do you go for it?

Lugg1 votes

I understand your frustration, but you can't generalize bot lane with one example. You ALWAYS try to give the kill to the ADC when possible. That's the point I'm making.

Woook3r1 votes

im not making any generalization. im saying what happened in a game where i was told to stop going for kills.

Lugg1 votes

Going for kills is fine as long as you are sharing them with the ADC. Always remember you want to get your ADC fed so they can carry late game.

Woook3r1 votes

Its great that you enjoy being negative about everything you see on the boards that doesnt worship support meta, but that isnt any excuse for putting words in my mouth or deeds on my hands.

Lugg5 votes

You make a thread bashing support, but I'm the negative one.

Woook3r1 votes

"I'm guessing that you never support." this is what I was talking about. the thread isnt about bashing supports either. you just assume it is. there are some very good support players. they make a difference. does that mean that I have to like the support meta? no.

does not likeing support meta mean I am bashing support? no. again you put words in my mouth. Nice.

Lugg1 votes

You may not have meant to bash supports, but that's how it comes across. I bet the majority of people would agree with me.

To illustrate how important the support role has been for a long time, the last two MVPs at Worlds have both been supports. And that's through several different metas.

Woook3r1 votes

"And that's through several different metas."-and critmaster garen complains that adc's are overpowered/broken...

It might help if you point out what sounds like support bashing. I know i say stuff about sucky supports not manning up in lane. Is that it?

Lugg1 votes

Here is what you said:

"Im tired and Im sure a lot of other people are tired of seeing the support drop to 2 bars of hp and then come back to full with an entire potion left to go. They are already hard enough to punish for aggression in lane. Not sure why they need three times the on demand sustain as well."

Yeah, you can chunk down supports with heals, but they are going to heal back up. The thing is, they have mana and they do run out of it early game quite easily. Once they are OOM, then you can finish them off. Sona for example is an early game bully, but you can focus her down pretty easy if she gets too aggressive.

The on demand sustain isn't any different than other champions. If they have stronger sustain, they are usually squisher. So it's a give and take situation just like other champs.

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

Checked your OP.GG He's right. All you did is played like 1 or 2 games of Support (and both are Soraka), and then you went full non-support lanes in every game. I'd be happy to give you a screenshot if you think I'm lying.

Woook3r1 votes

op.gg doesnt show every game? i have recent matches with both viegar and nautilus support.

LordGeovanni1 votes

how is it Hard having a baby sitter that pushes the enemy out of lane and allows you to farm until you become useful and gives you free kills when they did they work poking down the enemy and keeping you alive in lane.

Woook3r1 votes

how hard is it when you have to cs and babysit and punish the enemy? The support is easier because never has to cs. adc has a harder worst case lane.

Ravenhale1 votes

You can always start Long Sword + 3 Pots over Doran's Blade + 1 Pot.

Long Sword route has +10 AD and 450 Sustain versus 8 AD 3% LS 80 Health and 150 Sustain. I'm pretty sure 300 Sustain will be better than 80 Health and 3% LS. To Life steal 220 Health at 3%, you need to do 7,333 damage. That feels like a lot of work for something you will eventually sell.

Cull is 7AD with a guaranteed 3 Health on Hit while refunding its cost after 100 minions. Assuming you only Last Hit each of those 100 minions, you're guaranteed to get the extra 300 Health the pots would have provided. The only issue here is that it's 3 less AD, but I think it will prove mathematically better than Doran's Blade, which only had a 1AD advantage.

Woook3r1 votes

Dblade is better past 10 min than either of those and is better in an all in situation (unless you start chugging a pot).

Ravenhale1 votes

Numerical fact or opinion?

I can see the argument if you play well enough to never need a potion and you keep Doran's blade until you actually need to put something stronger in your sixth item slot. But a long sword can upgrade to a vampiric scepter (15AD 10%LS) which is almost the same as two Doran blades (16AD 6%LS 160HP).

In my opinion, I think the Long Sword 3 pots allows some wiggle room for mistakes without sacrificing much of anything. If you don't need to pop your potions, you can immediately start building Essence Reaver or BotRK or Blood Thirster. Only downside is if you're an ADC that starts Infinity Edge, in which case it would be best to upgrade your Long Sword to Vampiric Scepter first so that you have access to Life Steal. This would be where Doran's blade wouldn't feel like a wasted gold sink, as you get your Infinity edge 550 gold ahead of schedule.
