Lootboxes declared as gambling in Belgium
And people said that they weren't gambling ;^) Look who's laughing now. Maybe now game developers will have to get creative in the ways that they exploit money out of the consumer. [sg-miss-fortune]

EA: "is that a challenge?"
EA: "is that a challenge?"
Oh god no. Please no. They've already ruined like 2 franchises already. Please don't let them ruin something else....
Much like the sun rising and setting, it's inevitable that EA will find another franchise to fuck up.
Yep they are already sitting on a graveyard of studios they have sucked up only to spit out the bones.
Good.
Loot boxes are an abomination.
Phew, good thing this isn't Belgium then!

Oh don't worry, America's already looking into it [sg-ahri-2]
Whoop! Another win for consumers! [galio-happy]
Gambling is selectively enforced in the USA (Where Riot is located.) This means that they only get pissed off when the gambling is unregulated or otherwise you can't tax the gambling session, that is why gambling is legal in regulated areas such as casinos. The only current reasoning behind gambling being outlawed is because of this reasoning in the USA, otherwise it would be straight up abolished.
Though people do use the reasoning that: It's immoral, addictive, causes crime and suicide - however hasn't exactly been proven with scientific data as far as I am aware . . . skip the immoral part, as the USA is a mixed people I don't actually see any reasoning behind trying to enforce people to believe a certain way. Generally speaking though, the more a country tries to regulate a company - the more desire that company has to leave said 'policing' and go ahead to areas of the world that aren't necessarily policing their business's . . . via China for example.
