I don't really understand why people keep saying Cassiopea was a poison mage.

Been playing since before her release, and she has never been a poison mage. People used to call her a Burst DPS champ. Nothing about her old kit really signified a real emphasis on poison. Maybe that's the direction they should have focus on more, but she's always been about E.

I wasn't exactly a cassiopeia pro, but I feel like before the change you had an option in going for e or q 1st when you wanted to damage someone. In some match ups it seemed too dangerous to weave around someones point and click/skill shot moves to spam E (like for me it just seemed like too much effort to chase after lux to hit her with an E twice or 3 times when she could win the trade by turning around and landing 1 snare+ the rest of her combo if I ever strayed too close trying to fang her)so I could just whittle them down with poison until I felt that I could take them.

I definitely remember that too, but I don't really see how harassing has anything to do with a poison theme. Many champions have some form of longer range harass, but nothing about harass abilities have anything specifically do to with poison. If it was just a hard nuke that left a debuff for her E, functionally it would be the same thing (albeit stronger due to burst dmg).

Realistically, she still could max Q and do similar, just to much weaker effect. I think they didn't want a hyper scaling late game champ to have strong lane dominance as well.

She was called a poison mage because the majority of her damage came from landing her Q and W, that's a fact. The main reason why her total damage went down after the rework was because they HALVED her poison-damage in favor of her Twin Fang (which only gets even with pre-rework Cass once you reach 700 AP).

This rework is a downright nerf, there's no denying it.

But that's completely untrue. Cassiopea could choose to level Q early, but her late game pattern is, and always has been about landing E. Let me guess, you "mained" her with over 4 ranked games played!

Strawman. Reworks are not intended to specifically be buffs. The point is to change mechanics, and the quality of the mechanics have nothing to do with current power. Now if conceptually, she is unable to be strong without being overpowered, then you have a legitimate complaint.

They say it because her DPS was largely reliant on hitting champions she poisoned.
