I dont know how to beat him. I check champion.gg for counter tips, which of course is a mistake. I shouldnt be playing someone im not familiar with just for counters but i cant beat him with mains anyway. He just snowballs and roams so easily. I pick ahri and get two kills then he gets a triple kill. I solo him in lane then he actually gets items and then just blows me up every time. Like i dont understand how to beat him

Rewt2 votesYou need to skirmish with Ekko. He will always win the straight 1v1 if he is equal strength to you. This is because His ult gives him a get out of jail free card that does a shit ton of damage. Also his stun gives him a shield the size of greenland. When fighting Ekko you want to poke him and bait out his stun. Once you have done that you want to force him to pop ult. Once he has popped ult he can be killed.

Alex h87211 votesA few tips for going against ekko, his Q is pretty easy to dodge, especially on the way back because its a very narrow hitbox, so steadily dodging it and preventing him stacking his passive on you is important. As someone else said, bait out the stun and try to force him to ult so you can have kill pressure (or if you are playing a champ like Syndra/veigar w/ a stun, you can often stun/combo him down from half hp).
And the biggest tip is to learn the range of his E, mainly the 2nd half of it, so that he cant use it offensively as easily on you, being just out of range of the blink part of his E cockblocks ekko pretty hard, since especially with lichbane that becomes a big part of his damage.
I will say this though, laning against an ekko as a melee champ is generally gonna be a tough matchup.

his effective E range is about 850, but if you stay out of this range he wont ever trigger his passive and effectively you'll evade the bulk of his kit. he can W onto you with some degree of success but hes always predictable in doing so.
if you treat him like another ranged character instead of melee you'll have a much easier time. you cant punish him as freely with autos as you would like too i know, but thats a mistake, that gives him a free E onto you and you're perma slowed taking the brunt of his kit.
as a mid laner, i rarely kill ekko, but just by keeping distance i never die to him either (unless hes flashing onto me or something dumb under tower)
its best to focus on scaling, wave management, and poking him when hes out of position.
Cubíx1 votesHard CC and/or high burst damage is the best way to deal with him. Also playing lane bullies like orianna or syndra make the match tough, I know from experience on both sides. Lastly early MR obviously would make any ap assassin struggle, even if you don't build it into anything early on just grab a negatron cloak.
Yax Jasbon1 votesI think that you are looking for something that is easy to lane with, if that´s the case, I think that Swaine would be a good choice. Although it is not as fun to play with it will give you the upper hand on most match ups bc of the nature of his kit, and waveclear. you could simply poke, and push wave to get him behind on CS, and eventually you will take him down, also, save your ult for when you make mistakes as it gives you pretty good sustain.
