Possible solution to solo Q debacle

Tldr: solo q skill bonus, solos earn slightly more LP than groups.

Hey,

I think the reason most people are oissed off with ranks this season is because they don't mean jack shit this season. I've run into plat level players that are at best silver.

It's very demoralizing to see a worse player get rewarded with high ranks due to be carried😞. The worst feeling is when you see someone who was bronze last season siting at plat, and you know that even though you're a better player you'll never get there without cheating (duo )

There should be a solo q skill bonus added to ranked. If you group solo and win, you've obviously put in extra work, skills, and effort than a premades. Therefore solo players should earn slightly more LP than groups. Say you have a team with 4 premades and 1 solo Player, and you win. Is it fair that each player gets 15 LP each ? Or should the premades get 15 and the solo 20 ?

Please discuss the pros and cons of adding a solo q skill bonus for LP gain

The only question about this is does solo play require more skill, so do solo players deserve more LP?

As I understand it, the system currently matches higher-LP solos against a team with a larger premade to balance it out. If you then went above this and offered bonus LP to the solos when they win, you could be boosting the solo to even higher LP when they're beating up on less-skilled opponents. It might work, idk, but there's certainly some risk to it.

Didnt Riot say they would never do this? Already their queue times this season are fucked. If solo players dont queue DQ is fuxked.

I think your coming at this problem from the wrong angle. Increasing LP gains from going solo is the exact opposite of what riot's stated goal of DQ is. To encourage players to play with their friends more in ranked. Making climbing solo be faster is ridiculous, and unfair since proper communication and coordination is difficult to do.

There shouldn't be a pure advantage or disadvantage. To make it fair you'd need to trade risks, otherwise one method is clearly better and no one serious about climbing will use the other.

The better way to fix this is to keep the lp gains for both solo and premades the same but for premades to have INCREASED LP LOSS. (Or if you prefer solos having reduced lp loss) You trade the risk of bad teammates for the risk of a harder fall. Makes more sense, and doesn't present a clear answer as to which is better to climb.

INteresting suggestion, how does your suggestion (change lost LP) differ from mine (Change win LP). Arnt they basically the same thing?

Not really; your suggestion is basically "If all other aspects of skill are equal, The solo player is better rewarded."

Mine was "If all other aspects of skill are equal, The solo player is punished less."

Playing in a premade removes a lot of risks that solo players have to deal with, (crappy teammates, afks, dcs)

Solo players have to deal with these problems so they deserve some form of compensation, but in theory the players they play against should be equal to them, just as the players that face the DQ ones are equal to them. Why should they gain more for beating an equal skilled opponent over the DQ player?

Hence why I focused on trading risk. If you feel that DQ climbs easier go ahead, but your trading your safety net for better teammates. If you don't want to lose that much lp and rather risk the bad teammates, then your lp doesn't get punished as severely.

Very interesting, I think I agree with your system better. Good explanation
