Do people even realize that Ezreal has been doing the same thing for yeeeaarrs now!? The only thing that RG does is smooth his laning phase out just a bit. But regular AP ezreal with LB is stronger in every other way.
He's easily shut down and had a very binary attacking pattern.
buster kiton2 votesRuneglaive making his Q deal magical damage is a huge buff, because now he can itemize better for it and magic resist is already harder to build than armor. He also gets much needed waveclear with RG AoE and Ranger's trailblazer, which is what held him back before the item was released.
So yeah, it didn't just smooth his laning phase a bit. It's a flat buff to the champion.

Honestly, I have yet to see an Ez buy Runeglaive and win lane. Maybe I'm just seeing the unluckiest group of Ezreal players in existence, but until I see otherwise I'm going to assume this item is just a bad idea for Ez.

buster kiton1 votesEzreal's laning has never been strong, and honestly most of those Ezreals play him just because he's Fotm and have little to no idea of what they'er doing. The reason ez was so weak before is that he couldn't itemize to do damage with all his skills lategame; his Q did physical (needs armor pen) where as other spells did magical (magic pen). Also his defensive capability was considerably weaker due to no waveclear, now he has AoE damage on Q and possibility to get aoe smite that clears the wave.
Ezreals laning isn't any better than it used to be, that's true. But his scaling was buffed and he always scaled well.

ive laned against one, and he kept pushing the shit out of the lane, because he kept clearing creepwaves with blasting smite. i think its a problem, when he can farm like a boss and contineously shoving the creeps into your turret without mana management.
boom, creepwave gone, and then spam q while his opponent desperately tries to freeze the lane and has no creeps to hide behind.
i think its easy to fix. have the aoe of blasting smite not affect lane minions, and only the minion youre smiting directly. would still make it useful to get a cannon minion out of the way, but you cant just walk into lane and instantly clear an entire creepwave.
CasterGilgamesh1 votesez has been unfair for so long he has a good range to fight from he has a low cooldown flash when he's ap he just burst people so fast his q reduces all his cooldowns by 1 second the only thing that holds ez back is that he has mana cost and since ap ez just builds mana items anyway thats kinda out of the picture the new item is just icing on the cake
