could Riot really not figure out a better rune than conqueror for bruisers?

what was the original problem with bruisers? according to hashinshin it was tanks that were over performing. what works well vs tanks? percentage damage or resistance shred, not flat out true damage.

People actually take Hashinshin seriously?

so far he has influenced quite a bit for bruisers.

Conq works pretty well vs tanks.

ALL MłGHT1 votes

yes, i agree, BUT as a result it works well vs everything else too, not jsut tanks

While yes it does work vs everything, it's less useful the less Armor one has. It's the same as the new IE. If you have only base Armor then you're not gonna be blocking a lot of the damage regardless so the true damage doesn't really do as much, because you're already taking the damage.

True dmg pretty much just works vs tanks and offtanks. Vs everything else flat dmg is better.

what I suggested does just that without incorporating toxic gameplay. % damage / resistance would render useless on champions that don't build armor. current conqueror functions at every point of the game especially vs squishies. it converts 20% damage dealt into true damage. less armor someone has, the more damage is dealt thus more true damage

You're slightly confused in the way it works. Changing it to % health would make it do the same to EVERYONE, squishy or tanky - AKA just as effective against EVERYONE. 10% max health takes 10 hits to kill any champ, whether they have 10 health or 10k.

Whereas with true damage, if I don't build any armor you might as well be doing true damage with every hit anyway - If I build tons of armor, your true damage is suddenly a huge help though, because that 20% true can be higher than the other 80% against a fully built Armor stacked Malph(Not that it's a regular thing to have this be the case).

okay, maybe I should have clarified. it clearly wouldn't be 10% max health it would be something like Kog'maw W or Shen Q.

I think you need to inform yourself on how true dmg works :)

ALL MłGHT1 votes

i know how true damage works. it bypasses resistances. conqueror converts 20% damage dealt into true with no cap.

BEK Makadur1 votes

But before it takes the armor/magic resist into account.

ALL MłGHT1 votes

right, so if I do 100 damage to someone with 30 armor I do 77 damage to them. 20% of 77 = 15.4 true damage

100 damage vs someone with 100 armor -> 50 * .2 = 10

100 damage vs someone with 200 -> 33 * .2 = 6.6

BEK Makadur1 votes

As from what i know you would deal 20 true dmg as 20% from 100=20.

ALL MłGHT1 votes

you're forgetting to account for the resistance mitigated

Stray Kat1 votes

That's the whole point of true damage. It doesn't account for resistances. True damage is taken out before resistances are factored in.

"Bruiser" champions cover three official champion classes and multiple archetypes within each class. They came up with a rune that helped the vast majority of them.

Maybe if people would stop trying to use "bruiser" as a class term we could get something specific done.

ALL MłGHT1 votes

which 3 classes are they? I really have no idea. From what I understand is that bruisers are champions that auto attack alot

now, I don't mean champions like Master Yi and Tryndamere. I am talking about champions like Shyvannah, Irelia, Udyr, Jax etc

redniwediS2 votes

Juggernauts, Divers, and Skirmishers.

Most people talk about champions like Irelia or Riven, but historically champions like Garen and Fiora were considered Bruisers as well. The term basically meant "Fighters that can build defensively if they want to", but some people are using it as a synonym for Duelist, which is also not really a class and just describes the way a given champion fights.

Garen and Darius both fit under the term Bruiser, and both need different things to stay viable, and neither need the same things as someone like Irelia or Fiora, or even Jax. Riot did a surprisingly good job with Conqueror in that every single one of these champions can use the rune effectively, albeit some use it better than others.

Whether or not Conqueror was a good fit for the game is a different discussion, but if Riot's goal was to make a keystone rune that benefited "bruiser" champions they definitely succeeded.

Can YOU figure out a better rune for Bruisers though?

i literally gave a suggestion

Just changing it to percentage maximum health damage is a "suggestion"?
