Other Viktor Players Out There

I've found that using mag pen reds and scaling mana regen (which matches flat mana regen at level 6, unlike many scaling runes which match at 9) for seals, quints and glyphs is has shown evidence of being stronger early game than standard AP runes. I've also (and primarily) done this with but I don't care about him, I'm a main.

Anybody else wanna give it a shot and see if I'm crazy? Maybe this will be our own Secret Viktor Main Club Conspiracy if it works for everyone else

you are using scaling mana regen on SEALS QUINS AND GLYPHS?

Once in a while, yes. I've been toying with it on occasion for the sake of my own amusement, but I have also been surprisingly successful while doing it in addition to feeling totally obnoxious in lane. Viktor and Ziggs can keep their mana up without blue or mana regen items, even early. Viktor can do it basically all game, Ziggs can wait until 2nd or 3rd item (depending on if you get blue buffs or not) to buy one. So overall, you get more damage faster. I think that's why it seems to work so well: those champs lane safely in the early game anyway, but then at 1 item (~12-13:00) they hit much harder with their item 3285 than their opponent with item 3165 item 3174 or item 3092

Seals: 0.585/level Quints: 0.72/level Glyphs: 0.54/level Total: 1.845/level

That 1.85/level mana regen per 5 rate is roughly triple Viktor and Ziggs own growth from leveling in the early 6 levels, about double in the next 6 and about 1.3 times the last 6. Both champs have identical mana regen base and growths

did you do the math on the damage growth too? i mean, ludens echo, aside from its passive, only gives 40 ap more than morellos right? you roughly get about 27 ap from runes regularly (plus you can still go mana regen yellows if needed) so you are only missing out on 13 AP, which kinda feels neglible, but you GAIN the very valuable 20% cooldown reduction aswell as the mana regen.

i dont know whats better, but morellos sure feels better.

Except you're not accounting for the flat 100 + 10% AP burst on Luden's, which is an incredible boon to waveclearing. And in the early game, that's alot of extra burst damage. For most champions, that's about 3 extra spell ranks worth of damage.
