"Jeez Riot, It is 1 day into Runes Reforged and the game is an even more snowbally mess."

Or... Ok hear me out... OR...

We are 1 day into leagues biggest change and and no one knows strengths/weaknesses of new runes, and thus end up mysteriously getting really fed or really feeding.

Remember Runes are still strongest early, meaning once people get fed they can say "Ok now i just gotta do this" But lane phase is so insanely different its too early to tell what you are supposed to do.

Can we please take more than 1 day before we say that "I completely understand this new system and it is garbage"

Edit: And to quickly clarify, people saying damage early feels exponentially higher is ok. That is an observation. Its the people giving no actual feedback and just complaining that Riot fucked it that i despise.

I love the new runes/masteries, they are different and they each have special benefits.

I dont really know what to feel yet, with only 2 runepages i havent really played around with all the options yet.

However the thing that worries me is how they will feel when they are no longer "different" once the uniqueness goes away will they feel gimicky/OP/UP too early to tell.

No one expected it to be perfect its preseason it never is but people are allowed to express their feelings on the change. I bet if they new runes made the game a lot more enjoyable there would be many posts about how great it is. I, personally, hate the new runes after playing with them today and on the PBE. It feels like I'm playing URF.

Ikr. Absolutely zero patience. It literally day 1 of preseason and the crying shitposts have already started.

"BUT X IS OP!!!!"

Probably.

"RIOT SHOULD HAVE KNOWN!!!!!"

Pshh. Day 1 of probably the biggest changes in LoL history and people expect them to have factored every single champion, setup, item, and situation 100% perfectly and shit out a perfectly balanced game in one go.

"BALANCE TEAM IS SHIT!!!! THEYRE OBVIOUSLY NOT QUALIFIED!!!!"

Not even joking I saw a bronze 4 player try to claim that the balance team isnt qualified for their jobs while offering absolutely zero suggestions

"GAME IS MORE SNOWBALLY!!!! RIOT DOESNT LISTEN!!!!"

How about a tall glass of shut the fuck up until a few more patches go through where they can tweek things?

I mean, I’m pretty sure the balance team didn’t design the runes right? I think they had a game design team or something

Here's the thing, this wasn't hard to predict. The problem is that damage based runes are in every way superior to tank runes.

From specing Precision you get 450 gold worth of AS, for specing Domination you get either 385 gold worth of AD or 391 gold worth of AP, for specing Sorcery you get 525 gold worth of AD or 543 gold worth of AP, for specing Resolve you get 346 gold worth of HP. Already at this point tanks are at a disadvantage because they just get less stats. Add to that how generally sub-par tank runes are and the fact that there's no secondary durability tree while any class can spec a secondary for more damage and you start to see why this is such an issue.

There's simple solutions to this though, Resolve needs a small scale rework to its runes, several have no place in the tree or game and several just need to be revamped to be more useful. Removing Iron Skin, Mirror Shell, Demolish and Second Wind while reworking Unflinching to give actual defensive stats and Revitalise to be more useful on self shields rather than allies could help to open up options in the tree not just for tanks but for anyone who wants secondary bulk.

Another rune which isn't in Resolve but is an issue is Celestial Body, this is meant to be a rune that tanks can take to get tankier at a cost but the problem is that the rune is simply never worth the cost. If this rune were made less abysmal it would be a fair anti-snowball rune but right now it's utterly unusable.

At least this preseason isn’t as short as the last one, hopefully they get enough time
