Odyssey: Extraction is fun, but...

There are a few issues with it that if addressed could make it a really fun game mode. Also these could probably be applied to future game modes.

  1. Complete lack of feeling powerful as the game progresses.

It honestly doesn't feel like buying items does anything, even though I know it does. It is the feeling that you aren't really gettin stronger that bothers me a bit. As the game gets harder it, your stats seem to grow at the same rate the enemies get stronger. So it feels like why even have the option to buy items? Just make us get stronger with the enemies. However, this is different when you build say Tank vs Damage. You can feel the difference there.

  1. Being able to pick the same champions.

This is probably a controversial point, but personally I don't like it. There is a lot of good things about being able to pick the same champions, but on harder difficulties having 3 Yasuo's, a Sona, and a Ziggs isn't very fun. In a part of 5, this wouldn't be an issue since we can communicate a lot better and agree on team comps, but with random people it often feels like the game is over before it began. Again, I understand all the reasons to allow it, I just feel like it also detracts from the game a bit.

  1. Not being able to Dodge.

This is connected to the above point, even though I am not try-harding and I don't really care about losing, I do want to at least try to win. When you have an imbalanced team comp, it becomes impossible to win on the higher difficulties. I don't like queuing up for a game just to lose because your team all picked Yasuo and 1 sona or all Jinx and a Ziggs. In a 5 person premade or if all 5 people pick the same champion, this isn't an issue, but with random people picking imbalanced teams it isn't that fun. I would rather dodge and queue up for a different game and hope my teammates want to pick a more balanced team.

  1. Some of the hazards or whatever need to be tweaked.

For example the hitbox on the crystal lasers is a lot bigger than you would expect and often I don't realize I am actually in its hitbox when surrounded by enemies. The circles of death that move around the map are too fast and while I think that is not a bad thing, it would be nice to be able to outrun them for at least a few seconds before it hits you. The tree things that stop dashes, even dashing next to them without touching them or being near them will cause you to bounce off. They just need a bit of work.

So those are my biggest issues, but all personal and honestly the game mode is really fun.

At least until (and including) Captain, it feels like Shadow Assassin Kayn is way out of line compared to Rhaast Kayn and normal Kayn. His summons are straight-up stronger, more numerous, and on top of that his skills are incredibly high damage. Further, he has a penchant for being incredibly mobile which makes it hard to DPS him worth anything. It just feels like they gave Rhaast Kayn some reasonable amounts of stuff, and then gave Shadow Assassin Kayn everything they didn't give to Rhaast barring mobile damage zones.

If not for that, I'd actually have a lot of fun. But with that being in the back of my head, it kind of gnaws at me when I'm playing knowing I have to go up against something that seems like it wasn't even playtested before being put out.

On Onslaught Shadow Kayn is pretty ridiculous. All of his abilities nearly 1-shot and most of them are multi-hit so even if you survive the first one... The only thing i would tone down is the mobs, there is just too many of them, Shadow Kayn is hard enough on his own. It is pretty annoying when there are so many enemies on the screen you can't even see the floor or your character. They take too long to die and Kayn can pretty much 1-shot you and is dashing all over the screen. So you aren't left with a lot of options, it isn't impossible but its too freakin hard and it seems RNG based.
