who should win this fight

I a full damage either ap or ad squishy champ build all damage items with no defense and 1v1 a tank with no damage items that builds no offence and they have a 1v1 fight... who SHOULD win..

and i mean balance wise who should win if they game was as perfectly balanced, not who is GOING to win in the game's current state.

personally i think the full damage build should win. but they should take a long time to kill the tank

Edit: wow riot what happened to my other 2 poll options... i only see the first 2... and i cant edit it from here

ok well the 2nd two polling option where:

full tank: (quick) and full tank: (slow)

idk how to fix the poll :/

It's incredibly dependent on the champions and items

right now it is yes.. but i dont think there should EVER really be a case where 2 champs at equal gold one building full tank and the other full damage should not always come out the same and have the full damage win.

if you dont build ANY damage items and someone else builds ALL damage items.. i DON'T think you should EVER win that fight in any champ under ANY circumstance (assuming equal gold)

explain your logic behind this

it honestly should depend on how far along in the build both are obviously a tank with all his items should beat an squishy ad/ap who is behind on items. but in a straight one to one fight with an equal spread of gold i think the tank should still win because he/she will be able to last out on the squishy damage much longer than the ad/ap champ will last out on the tanks damage even if his damage doesn't seem like a whole lot. but you have to take into consideration that tanks are not just walking health bars they for the most part have cc that will and should slow down a high damage carry's damage output. so in short as long as its a one on one fight and the tank doesn't have to go through other people to get to a squishy he should win IMO.

in a perfectly balanced game, the tank would win

Tanks are meant to survive burst damage (usually by high defense and sustain). As such, ADC (and other sustained-damage champions like Azir or Cassiopeia) counters tanks. Assassins are countered by tanks.

Of course, that's in a teamfight. In a 1v1, the tank will probably win, although it depends on the matchup.

it depends on the champions

Vayne would insta win, while Akali would have a hard time

This argument it both boring and trite but I'm bored so I might as well try to educate a poor soul.

That is not how a 5v5 MOBA with 120+ Champions works.

The game is not balanced or designed around what would happen if every Champion were trying to 1v1 every other Champion. In the end you have to consider the team element, not to mention other game design elements like objectives, pushing lanes/towers, vision/jungle control, zone control, etc.

Vayne Some Carries are designed to eliminate single targets. Sivir Other Carries are designed around AoE or Multi-Target damage. Ashe Yet Other Carries focus on their overall utility rather than raw damage output

Shen Some Tanks are all about protecting an ally through a shield or defensive boosts Alistar Other Tanks are all about soaking up insane amounts of damage and disrupting the entire enemy team through AoE damage or CC Blitzcrank And yet other Tanks focus on their overall utility and being able to separate a single target from their team

And that's assuming that the "All Damage" and "No Damage" Champions you are talking about are in fact Tanks & Carries - which you didn't specify, so maybe you're saying that a Full Damage Braum should be able to defeat Full Tank Vayne?

League has way too many Champions, too many item builds, too many metagame strategies to simply be boiled down as "Damage > No Damage"

If it were that easy, we'd all have left by now.

A champion who builds all damage will be less durable than a champion who builds all tank. A champion who builds all tank will deal less flat damage than a champion who builds all damage. Theoretically, it would be a stalemate.

Realistically, it depends on the champion. Some champions are just better duelists than others. Full tank Mundo is going to kill full damage Jinx fairly easily, I think. Mundo, on the other hand, would probably be rekt in 1v1 by a full damage Tryndamere. Who in turn would probably lose to a full tank Nasus.

Some tanks are bad duelists, some are good duelists. Same with damage dealers. Generally speaking, ADCs aren't particularly good duelists. And they shouldn't be. They deal so much sustained damage in team fights and are so important to team comps that it would be absurd to expect them to be capable duelists.
