I feel like Vel’koz’s combination of disruptiveness and damage is too overbearing
Unpopular opinion: vel’koz is too strong.
He can practically be played in any lane. While he is immobile, he’s extremely long ranged and has CC galore built into him. His spells and the way they work translate to diving him often requiring far too many resources, but you can’t ignore him either. While he is entirely skill-shot based, it’s imporrtant to remember that good players land skill shots and while I will readily admit his spells are not easy to land, they are incredibly punishing when he does land them. A good Vel can practically chase you down and perma CC you, preventing you from ever really getting away. And honestly, given that he’s so difficult to dive, and the fact that he can run you down and melt you is absolute bullshit. I’m fine with him having self peel, but this should not also service as an effective way of locking down targets and killing them from range.
Lux functions very similarly, as does Brand. Though immobile, both are incredibly difficult to dive because dives will always be telegraphed and they can hold their CC for you. However, unlike Vel, they cannot chase you down and stay on top of you. Once they land their combo (or miss it), you can generally just walk away from them (assuming you’ve survived) - or at the very least, you won’t feel like you don’t have an opportunity to get away. You absolutely feel this way against vel’koz and it’s stupid. I don’t think he’s necessarily overpowered, but he gets to have his cake and eat it, too. And it’s absurd. This isn’t even mentioning the absurd damage he puts out, which I don’t really mind because that’s kind of his thing. But the disruptiveness really needs to be toned down.
