I REALLY can't believe I'm saying this...

...but holy shit Riot, why did you gut Blitzcrank like that? No ability should kick you in the dick like that if it costs mana to use. Hell, even if Blitzcrank was an energy based champion, I'd say that's overkill. Blitz has bigger problems then "muh movespeed", and if you don't want Blitz to support anymore, rework him so he isn't just "hand free kill to ADC", and make him a bruiser or jungler again.

Actually I love it. Blitz Overdrive was my most hated part of him, not the hook, the Overdrive. It lasted so long, gives such a huge speed boost on low cd with minimal manacost that he WILL get away, and when you say "welp fuck it, not gonna catch him anway" and turn to his allies, he will reintroduce himself, disrupt your shit and then run away again with a million ms. Stay behind minion? Too bad hes just going to walk up to you at mach speed and do it anyway. Im not saying hes op, but by god Overdrive is annoying

No I agree that his W was the most OP part of his kit (maybe his ultimate too, it shouldn't have that low of a cooldown, regardless of knocking off that passive effect), but I think 30% MS slow afterwards is a little excessive. The duration did need to be cut down, but I don't think that it needed to be changed in the way that it did. I don't have any ideas how, but anything would be better than this.

I think the slow itself could have interesting gameplay (Blitz would have a window of opportunity to go in for a hook, but would otherwise not be able to catch up to his target as easily), but my biggest beef with the new effect is how the movement speed bonus becomes practically insignificant halfway through the boost. I'd much rather, say, ditch the attack speed and reduce the effect's duration to 3 seconds, but have that 70-90% bonus movement speed not decay at all, than have Blitz slow himself for a bonus that feels like about the same amount of movement speed he's getting now.

I'd say keep the attack speed; it gives Blitz more build options with that steroid. Taking it away would make his kit even more binary and one-trick.

That is a fair point, though I think there are other ways to make Blitz less one-track while also giving him something he can put to full use (full AD itemization on Blitz is more of a relic of his pre-support days). Shifting some of the emphasis onto his E as a good ability on its own, for example, instead of just a follow-up to a hook, would allow him to do more things in lane, as well as have more fallback options when he misses his Q. I also think there's a lot more that could be done for his ult: the passive random zap is a more of a nuisance than an actual positive effect, and I think it could be replaced with something that would help Blitzcrank make an impact independently of his hook.

Link or it didn't happen. =P No seriously, I need to see and I can't navigate surrender@20 to save my life.

There are tabs at the top. Click "PBE" scroll until you see the update that is titled 5-30-15 PBE Update (should be at the top).

Don't bother trying to find it on mobile though, it is terribly set up on that format.

Good to know. Thanks.

He's had a high pick and win rate for awhile, and somewhat (but not overly) crowds out other supports. As a hard-engage support, he's got a grab AND a knockup on top of a high-burst silence. One grab early game is usually a kill against other traditional supports, so I guess Rito's trying to curb his chasing/positioning tool to give more counterplay for other less mobile, squishy supports like Sona (her E isn't strong early game, and few Sona players max it first).

Alright, gonna be the one to say this, Blitzcrank is about as much of a support as Annie is, and that's in name alone. He has nothing in his kit that "supports", hell, half of his kit is Garenteed to steal kills. The problem is that his current kit was too effective as a jungler and bruiser, Riot nerfed the crap out of it, and then he became a "support" like Annie recently did, and was stuck in that role ever since.

Maybe if his grab had a delay like Thresh, and could drag him on terrain like Nautilus, he could become a jungler again. He has three forms of cc, so perhaps if they removed the silence from his ultimate (since it already has that passive...), he'd be a bursty bruiser.

Hell, maybe even give his powerfist a passive that boosts his autos against monsters.

Except Blitzcrank has been a "support" for more than 3 seasons, so whatever he was on release, isn't what he is now and hasn't been for a while. Elise was supposed to be a mid lane assassin, but you couldn't tell by looking at her. Blitz is the same. He doesn't scream support, but he is definitely more supportive than Morgana or Annie.

So what if he's not meant to be a support? That doesn't mean we can't balance him on his support role. He's too good and stupidly high reward for zero risk, ever. What do you want them to do? Leave him as the bane of bot lane?

For the people who are new to the game, Blitz actually used to have the slow-after-speed mechanic. Riot removed it a while back, along with reducing the mana cost on Q, which allowed Blitz to become a good support. No clue why they're putting it back doe.

What about Janna's slow then?

Blitzcrank didn't passively gain anything by having a point in Overdrive.

Terff2 votes

I'd rather him be a solo laner again, they need to take some power out of his grab not his overdrive, that was his main splitpushing tool and now its much worse.

RoyaiChaos2 votes

If Blitz lands the hook, the slow doesn't really matter to him. Anyways, I've already been killed solely by Blitz enough times, he doesn't need more damage.

junglerboy162 votes

They did it because a ton of threads kept saying how obnoxious it is that he doesn't even need skill to position with because he can just constantly move really fast to line up the perfect hook, and is hard to punish outside of that. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with the change (too soon to tell), but that is likely the reason this change went through. One thing I'm not sold on is that the MS decays, because of the new self slow when the buff ends, the MS should stay constant the whole time to emphasize his windows of opportunity: run around minions>Grab>hit=stunlock, miss=run away and wait for CDs.

It used to be a lot worse than that back in season 1. This isn't a big deal

I'm just glad they're finally nerfing Blitz just so people will stop picking him all the goddamn time. I'm so tired of the last guy on my team locking in Blitzcrank , because "He's OP", when the enemy has a Maokai Sejuani Leona and Chogath on their team. Having to play adc against a team like that with a Blitz support is basically a free loss unless your team gets so fed that you never have to teamfight.

Its needed. It makes it so blitz actually has COUNTERPLAY. Now if they just make it a bit weaker in early levels and a bit stronger in later levels...

Blitz's movespeed steroid has been buffed to almost triple what it was at max rank

Are we talking about the same thing? Are we even on the same page as to what a nerf or a buff is, for that matter?
