Seems obvious to me that new Galio is best played as Support

Let's assume everyone reading this has half a brain and already knows why his kit would be good for the Support role and skip to the reasons it's not so good in Top or JG:

-His passive would auto-shove lane leaving him susceptible to ganks when extended similar to why Nocturne doesn't make a good top laner(althoguth not quite as difficult to manage), and it's cooldown is only lowered when hitting enemy champions with spells so it would be sub-par for jungle clears.

-His Q isn't the worse for clearing camps but it's not cheap on mana and still pretty meh compared to most top-tier junglers, and is medium length CD.

-W passive only shields magic dmg which only baron deals(from jg). I suppose it reduces the damage of one auto attack form each nearby jg monster per cast, but mehhhh.

-E deals damage but it's a medium length cd and requires mana leaving less in the pool to assist allies or powerfarm.

-R decent spell for a top or jungler but still it's post-6 power stalled in jg and requires having TP up from top lane or galio will likely lose his turret just for using his ult to help an ally outside of lane.

But when you put Him int he support role every part of his kit is 100% efficient.

Maybe I forgot to mention something Or i am missing a counterpoint, please share your thoughts.

In order of efficiency i rate as follows:

-Support:100% -Top:90% -JG:80%

Speaking as a support main who actually played old Galio pretty regularly across two accounts.

Now, I've been trying him out and the new Galio feels "clunky" - sort of like his mechanics are cobbled together like the parts of a Rube Goldberg machine or a rushed middle-schooler's Science fair project. He doesn't want to be a mage - and he doesn't want to be a tank. He's stuck in the limbo between both roles.

On one hand, you just don't quite get enough of a bump out of the old MR approach. And on the other, if you build him AP, then your skills are somewhat limited. I have a hunch and a strong feeling that the pre-release nerf on the Public Beta Test server was in the wrong direction - but that's spilled milk, I think.

Truth be told, despite all the complaints about him, the old Galio actually worked pretty well on botlane. But this one is, well, awkward. In his current state, I suspect that even if he goes through a cycle of nerfs and buffs, he's going to be a bit awkward to use and awkward to play with. Thus, he will remain off-meta (like the "new and improved Aatrox"). Sure there may be some master and challenger players who might try him out - I can hear Lemon's gear churning away already contemplating it - but why bother?

If there are better champions which are smoother to play, have pre-established chemistry with certain champs and have already a bit of a following for the same sort of role (e.g., Alistar who just got buffed), then why bother with a clunky champ with weak mechanics?

P.S. I still miss my flying gargoyle who never really deserved this...

Agreed even though his place is support he just feels too weak to do anything even though he can peel pretty good i just don't think he will replace anyone or be seen in competitive unless he gets a buff or gains armor buff to his shield since magic is just laughable and basically useless. Damn was hoping for a new support champ but when does riot ever get it right anyways.
