Darius FINALLY getting some late game buffs, but can we do something about his pull now?

I'm really glad to see Darius getting some late game viability with his mana refund and resets on his ult on the PBE, it sucked having him in a bad spot where he was a really good lane bully, but drops off the second laning ends like an anvil off a cliff.

But now that he IS getting some attention, can we make his pull more... "fair" doesn't really convey it, but I can't think of a better term. The animation is very unintuitive on when you're locked into the pull, sometimes it seems like people are getting pulled even though they left the area of effect before he even fully extended his axe, much less actually pulled people, I can't tell you how many times I've seen people waste their escape move or even flash, only to be pulled all the way back to Darius despite being clear with a wide margin. Most other pull/push mechanics work fairly well in terms of intuitive results, dodge blitzgrabs and thresh hooks before they hit you and you're clear, you have until you collide with Alistar and Poppy before you get shoved, but Darius's pull REALLY doesn't make sense.

I have flashed landed out of the pull animation once and after the animation ended, I got pulled ALL the way back, that was pretty dumb.

Darius mains downvoting this.

Not realizing this bug is one of the reason's Darius is kept weak.

Making it so that you can flash out of his Apprehend would allow him more noticeable power somewhere else, like maybe increasing mana or something? It should be done anyway for summoner 13

his pull is fine, if they had to take that out they would need to reduce the cd by half at all rank. just stop complaining because you got outplayed :)

lol

I agree with him needing buffs if they changed that, but Outplayed? Are you outplayed when Lissandra, Annie, Or Veigar click R? Do you know what outplayed means?

Bruh, I play Darius, and being able to Bait flashes using your E is bullshit. It is confirmed to be a bug, it was actually fixed, but then reinstated when they made a fix to cone shaped abilities firing in the wrong direction.

Riot even once admitted they had to balance him in some area's around a bug in his E. That's literally aroudn 20% of his power invested in an "unreliable" bug. it is pretty much RNG, as you will only land it if they are mid flash as the E is half-way through.

That was poor writing from my part I agree I shouldn't have said outplayed.

I would like to see a cd buff to his pull if it were to be changed tho

His pull WOULD be fine if either you could escape it during the delay (the way the ability is supposed to work), or if the delay was removed or far shorter so it didn't give the illusion of counterplay. Hell I'd even take you being pulled a set distance like when you get hit with Thresh's flay instead of now where even if you popped an escape, you're pulled all the way back to Darius.

IIRC, the issue with his pull is due to how abilities like grabs and flings are coded. Whether or not you are hit by the ability is calculated when the ability is cast instead of when the animation plays/ends. For most abilities, this isn't really much of an issue; however, Darius's pull has a long cast animation so the discrepancy is more apparent than in other abilities and it leaves you more time to flash/blink/dash away from pull and be dragged back.

Depending on how these abilities are coded, it may or may not be a difficult task to fix this behaviour.

Close, actually the way darius works is that the game decide whether you will be pulled or not by checked who is in range at the instant the button is pressed, and the actual pull just goes of after the animation. Nothing else matters except if you were in range when he pressed the button.

Isn't that what I said? It's determines who is hit when the ability is cast instead of when it ends, but the animation is long enough that this discrepancy is more noticeable than on other skills.

I support your post, let me say that up front.

I'd like to point out, though, that this applies to pretty much all pulls.

TBH, I would prefer they make it so that the animation basically "fires off" instantaneously so that it doesn't give the illusion that you can flash away from it.

This removes the stupid flash-get pulled anyway nonsense (or at least makes it so it's essentially impossible to deliberately replicate), while mostly maintaining Darius' current level of power.

Flashing or blinking away and then getting reeled back in is honestly stupid - it's not intuitive from either a gameplay or logical standpoint, it looks silly, and it seems to be unintentional behavior.
