The Anti-ADC Meta

Ok sure but why··1 votes·116 views

It feels like whenever a new champ is designed, the goal is for it to be highly durable and have enough damage to be good at killing tanks. When that happens, they get really, really good at killing ADC's, because they're doing lots of damage and are hard to kill.

Take Illaoi, for example. People complain about how she does a whole shit-ton of damage, while other people say she's completely balanced. You can tell that the person complaining about the damage was playing a squishy champ like an ADC, and the one defending her was an Illaoi main some other juggernaut that doesn't instantly die from three of her tentacles.

And with items like Lord Dominik's Regards, it's becoming much less beneficial to actually build lots of tank against ADC's, so they just build even more AD to do an even bigger shit-ton of damage.

TL;DR: I know that ADC's are designed to do lots of damage and be squishy enough to be stopped, but lots of champs lately have been able to do lots of damage, too, and be nearly unstoppable. If you've ever played an ARAM, and your team was a bunch of ADC's and assassins, and you were put up against five full tanks, you'll know exactly what I mean.

In fairness, ARAM isn't a good example because the map setup is so vastly different that optimal champions are different for it.

I'm sure it doesn't quite matter which angle the ADC's are coming from if the tanks just simply don't die in the first place.

They die. Easily.

Not that easily.

It happened to me, once. I was Master Yi, against all tanks. I got a nice double kill before they could say "Fuck was that," but then it just turned into an old Bat Man film.

HEADBUTT!! BODY SLAM!!!!! DEATH SENTENCE!!!!!! PULVERISE!!!!!!!!!!!! FLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EXPLOSIVE CASK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shut down!

Well yeah that's what happens when you try to 1 v 5. Be glad you managed to pick up a double kill so easily.

Well, that's what happens when they all do some group-cc.

But that's the thing: in ARAM, that tanks can trivially initiate on the ADCs because they are confined to such a small space and do their own job much easier, while the ADCs will have a harder time avoiding getting shitstomped by tanks. In a proper game environment with more space to move around in, ADCs can be more easily protected and can kite more easily while inflicting damage.

Also, I'm not sure what world it's in that tanks don't die, unless we're talking about tanks that are ahead (because those are a nightmare to take down), tanks do melt, it just takes longer than a squishy, and that's the entire point of being a tank.

Yeah, I get that, but they're generally doing enough damage to kill most ADC's just by walking up to them in a straight line, too. Like Mundo.

VoidStaresBack1 votes

Mundo is a juggernaut, it's his job to dish out a lot of damage. True tanks like Malphite, Leona, Braum, Shen, etc. don't have very high natural damage outputs.

They still hurt a lot. You can't really say they don't hurt a lot, 'cuz they do.

Anyone can hurt ADCs.

Ok sure but why1 votes

Yeah, but they shouldn't be full tank when they do so.

Everyone's understanding that tanks are always viable. That's why everyone is going Tank Ekko, Tank Yi, Tank Fizz, Tank Taliyah, Tank Janna for fuck's sakes. Tanks are just too good right now.

Ralanr1 votes

Please don't confuse tanky builds with actual tanks.

And people can afford to build tank because of all the free damage around.

Ralanr1 votes

I didn't know Taliyah was tanky enough to be anti-ADC.
