Ohmwrecker's active should disable Reinforced Armor.

The Ecdysiast··57 votes·2,072 views

Reinforced armor is the buff that turrets get when no enemy lane minions are nearby granting them 2/3 damage reduction, including the true damage from an elixir of sorcery.

If the active that disables turret fire also disabled Reinforced Armor for the duration, it could actually be a viable item for splitpushing along with its marginal effectiveness for diving.

As a side note, no they will not delete the item. It was created as a reward to a player for getting 1000 referrals. Wriggle and Grez were butts.

They've deleted referral rewards before, Wriggles Lantern and Grez's Spectral Lantern for example.

Also i thought everyone was on the "turrets are too weak!" train, but this would make turrets even more easily destroyable than they currently alreaady are. Ohmwrecker needs to move away from the whole tower thing, and do something else

I agree. Last thing I want is a tryndamere with and item that allows him to split without having to push a wave first. OP's idea sounds nice, but I don't think it's healthy for the game. Better to rework the whole thing. Perhaps make it redirect every turret shot on an ally towards you if you're in range. Then again, it takes away some of the teamwork required to tower dive, but it does open up new strategies.

Anyways, something should happen with this item. The only times I get reminded of the existance of this item is in threads like these. Ohmwrecker is the Yorick Mori of the items.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

He'd split without pushing, be able to attack for a whopping 2 seconds, and then have to wait for his minions again if he didn't destroy the tower by using his ult for the rest of the damage.

This wouldn't make the item overpowered, it'd only make it viable.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Those are the only two examples. No reason to put "for example" when you listed the entire pool of deleted referral items.

Turrets are too weak. But this change wouldn't make them weaker. If anything, it would show just how weak they are and push Riot towards tower buffs. Which would in turn keep the item viable while fixing another long-standing problem.

You didn't adress my point though. Referal rewards have been deleted in the past, reason is irrelevant. It can happen again and probably will if Riot decides they can't come up with a good rework for Ohmwrecker

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Yes, referral rewards have been deleted in the past. The reason though is actually quite relevant.

Based on history, it is actually most likely it will not happen to any other item. The only two items to be deleted were the attack speed jungle items, which over the years have posed the biggest problem for jungle itemization due to the nature of how different champions are empowered by their basic attack focus.

It has not happened again yet, even for Zeke's which has gone through 3 iterations and 2 name changes while keeping the Zeke's part intact.

They don't need to delete the item, just rework it instead of Zeke's for the Xth time. Like, next time they have an idea for Zeke's do it to Ohmwrecker instead.

we dont know if the item got designed byriot, maybe Ohmwrecker did it himself

Zeke's Ohmwrecker

Now you gave me the idea of having something similar to Ohmwrecker, only instead of disabling enemies turrets, it lets someone do true damage to structures for X seconds. Seems broken.

Or turn an ally into a tower.... which would be hilarious.

Malphite "You have been promoted from living Ward to living Turret. Congratulations."

At least if he was a turret he'd be useful.

That moment when you try to dive someone and he just becomes a second tower for you to tank.

Hello I am Bird4 votes

Didn't they delete Wriggler's lantern? That was a referral reward.

Friendly Ram3 votes

a buff for ohmwrecker. i'm in.

they've deleted quite a few items that were made through the referral program so it's not unheard of.

The Ecdysiast2 votes

They only deleted Wriggle's and Grez's lanterns. The rest still exist.

Ohmwrecker active should give you a choice of disabling enemy towers or empowering your own towers. As it is now, it can only be used if you are winning. If you fall behind, the item becomes worthless. Here is my suggestion. Nearby allied towers gain max damage instantly (instead of taking 3 shots) and target all enemies within range for 4 seconds. Tower kills on champions and minions during this time award gold to the player who empowered it.

The Ecdysiast2 votes

I would suggest something more like forcing the tower's target to switch, rather than letting it attack everyone. Then it could be used both for diving and to counter dives.

excellent.. its time to bring back the udyr backdoors

They never left.

ScarletSurgeon2 votes

It's name is Ohm wrecker. Ohm is (electrical) resistance. I think it should rather wreck resistances (of towers and Champions) instead of stopping them from attacking.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

So, exactly what I'm suggesting but also remove the disabled attacks?

TotalJerk2 votes

Imagine Tryndamere or Nasus buying this item.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

So, exactly like Tryndamere or Nasus playing regularly already, but Tryn with a little less damage and Nasus with a little less defense. Since both of them are already splitpushers.

TotalJerk1 votes

The point is that they wouldn't even have to push the lane anymore. They can just sneak up to a turret, use Ohmwrecker, and nuke the shit out of it.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Nasus can only nuke the turret if you have let the game drag on to the point he has stacks, which means he'd be getting to the turret with minions and nuking it anyway.

Likewise, Tryndamere wouldn't be any worse at clearing with his static shiv.

RookPusher2 votes

Ohm is screwed because when towers are weak, you can't ask for it to be buffed. The solution, I've always felt, was to allow it to give you an Azir passive.

Tobias Brackner1 votes

Ohmwrecker is a godlike item that doesn't need buffs.

It needs the community to remember that this is a team game and that they should use teamwork.

The Ecdysiast2 votes

Ohmwrecker is an item that already had 200 less HP than other tank items, but now has 100 less and didn't receive extra armor to match them because fuck consistency.

Tobias Brackner1 votes

Homie, don't talk about stats on an item like each one is in a vacuum.

If you want to talk about Ohmwrecker you have to talk about its active.

The Ecdysiast2 votes

The active is not enough to offset the terrible stats, otherwise people would buy it. At the moment, even the drastically nerfed sunfire and Deaman's are still bought more because their stats and weakened passives still outweigh the marginal use of Ohm's passive.

If you think Ohmwrecker is a good item, you simply don't know much about the game. There's not much else to it.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you meant "active" for Ohmwrecker.

Now here is what you do to prove that:

Math out the damage mitigated by Ohmwrecker active and then Math out Sunfire / Deadman. Then show the damage mitigated past the 3 second point. (I would be surprised if the Ohmwrecker build takes more damage than Sunfire / Deadman but that's one part of how you prove your point)

The next step is to show the math that Ohmwrecker mitigates from champions when compared to Sunfire / Deadman. From there you make an argument comparing the two. I.E. "Ohmwrecker is inferior in both cases." or "Ohmwrecker's power is too circumstantial given how much you lose" or something along those lines.

As if towers weren't weak enough.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Towers' don't deal enough damage, and the bot tower is intentionally weaker than the other two for some insane reason, considering it has two people to defend it and is much higher priority for ganks because of its proximity to dragon.

Buffing Ohm slightly wouldn't make any difference to how weak towers are. If anything it'll give them reason to buff towers while making ohm an even more necessary item for splitpushing.

PrinceOfStorms2 votes

I know right? Bot tower should be stronger than the other two.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

More enemies to guard against clearly means less defense.

Logic 001.

ZT Xperimentor1 votes

That's my point, towers aren't remotely a threat, nor are they worth defending anymore.

DaNinad1 votes

I have an Ohmwrecker ;).

I build it on Soraka you dirty minded people.

TwitchInMyPants1 votes

IMO just give it the option to be used like the old summoner spell "Fortify" so its only purpose isn't disabling enemy turrets. Turrets are already disabled by death and raw ad and raw ap stackers both get bonuses towards destroying the turret before fire/earth dragons or anything like that are factored. So disabling a turret isn't always good. However if it can disable a turret OR double the AS of a turret while buffing its durability (dont make it as strong as fortify, shorter duration or way less defense) then its a flexible active.

WinTheWarOnPants1 votes

This just gave me an idea.

What if item 3056 put down a dummy minion that took "X" amount of turret shots. So if you want to tower dive, you can put it down and it take tower shots while you position, but just like with regular minions, the tower will target champs if they do dmg to champs. This would also let teams push objectives when minions are not yet at tower/continue to push when you run out of minions.

I fully understand that this would be horrible for the current state of the game/towers. This is a separate issue and ohmrecker will never be able to have a passive/active that sabotages towers that doesn't break the game until riot stops messing around and addresses it.

RookPusher1 votes

That's called Zz'rot, or Banner.

WinTheWarOnPants1 votes

zz rot is for pushing. It can't maintain tower agro.

RookPusher1 votes

What do you mean "can't"

WinTheWarOnPants1 votes

It drops tower agro between voidling spawns.
