Irelia, however, will need nerfs.

She benefits so much from the new CDR and AS changes. I'm excited for it, but I'm gunna feel like a scumbag playing her until she gets hit. Though, I'll continue to play her, unlike all of the inevitable band-wagoners.

Have we even seen the loss of RNG effects yet? Winning or losing because of a luck stat sucks but does happen.

It will likely be a buff but not to the degree everyone is talking.

It is not like they doubled the sheen proc damage or made if have 12% movement speed again.

The garbage ADC changes only buffs were upping the crit from 10 to 20%, and replacing AP with CDR (which is arguable, depending on champion). Meanwhile, nerfing the AS from 30 to 15%, the AD from 30 to 25, MS from 8 to 5%, and upping the mana as another excuse to increase price by 100 despite losing so much for so many champions.

So they're removing the 20% crit that nobody acknowledged, since it was better back when it had 10% crit, which was too RNG to really utilize well.

They're increasing the CDR, which is always good, considering spellblade procs.

And they're buffing the AS by a massive 25%.

Building it is also far easier, since the least desirable component is now CDR+ 35% Attack speed, which suits you far better than 15% AS+20% crit. The MS might be missed, but it wasn't really needed in the large majority of cases before TF was finished anyway. We get to keep the 5% despite Zeal no longer being a part of Trinity Force.

And the price is going slightly down.

I think its a pretty huge buff, especially since it significantly improves her extended trading power. 1 or more extra attacks is more consistent than hoping for a crit among 5 hits. Plus, its very easy to hit 40% CDR on her with the new changes, which makes her insanely sticky and powerful if she's not focused down.

I am not denying I hate crit I am just saying it was a unreliable but undeniable bit of damage.

WoonStruck1 votes

I won't deny that it helped in many cases, but the amount of AS its granting now means she'll be getting 73 AS from runes, masteries, and this item now. That's pretty significant, considering it was only 48 before. This will help her in a lot of tankier match-ups, as well as let her unload an extra auto or two off of Qs and Es.

It won't be as much burst, but its relatively similar damage and will be more consistent, making the outcome more predictable.

Its a buff to mid-game CSing as well. I hate critting when a creep is ~1/5 HP so casters kill it when I wanted to auto, wait a sec, then auto again for the last hit.

Its also a buff to peeling, due to the better extended trades. Champions like Poppy, Trundle, etc will be hurt a lot my by Irelias now than by what crit provided her.

Irelia Bot1 votes

Doing the math and this is only part of it it actually does less theoretical damage with the changes for auto attacks overall even with Hiten added in. It is however more reliable.

You have to remember that base attack speed does not increase with levels and youi only get a % added bonus attack speed with a level.

All the while Crit chance is static in overall theoretical effectiveness.

In other words the only real buff is the increased CDR. New VS Old level 1 to level 18 97.2624744 99.44944128 102.8830597 105.5357937 119.141783 120.7921236 135.9239944 136.6000312 153.2296937 152.9595164 159.986631 160.2945792 178.1477863 177.5656996 185.3771396 185.4293576 204.393751 203.6121132 212.0955203 212.0043663 219.9377376 220.5651571 227.9204029 229.2944855 236.0435162 238.1923515 244.3070776 247.2587551 252.7110869 256.4936963 261.2555442 265.897175 269.9404495 275.4691914 278.7658028 285.2097454

This is Auto attack damage only using Irelia's base and per level stats with trinity owned and 29% attack speed runes. this is targeted to be the average damage dealt with no reductions during a 10 second window of only auto attack damage with Hiten active for 6 seconds.

They are comparable and other factors could swing one as being the better one overall.

But the overall result is that the only major buff is the 10% more CDR from stinger.

WoonStruck1 votes

Better build path and reduced cost.

Consistency does a lot too.

I am aware of the Trinity Force buff only being about a 52% buff to her non-intrinsic AS if you're using 29% AS runes like everyone else with Trinity Force as her only AS item.

Effectively 17% buff to total attack speed, so only slightly weaker than crit. However, the slightly reduced cost and more desirable component with CDR are likely to make up for it.

Also, did you include 4% from masteries? Should be 48% non-intrinsic AS for old, and 73% for new. Not that it will make much of a difference, since it applies to both.

lmao go ahead and play gangplank mid, or even top for that matter, and see how easy it is to sustain a >50% winrate bro. After all the nerfs gangplank's had, this is one of the worst. The Triforce is the heart of GP and nerfing it means GP will be nerfed hard. I really hope he can get compensation buffs.

That being said, you are throwing around the winrate scheme as the center of your argument. I hardly believe that you know much about GP at all.

hOrnn1 votes

I think this is wrong, triforce gives gp everything he wants and needs, but he already has good damage and speed boosts...he could rush ie, or a lot of other items, hell even IBG and still be strong.

hOrnn2 votes

GP does not need nerfs, but he wont need buffs either, people choose to rush triforoce, its not his only build path, his barrels have 40% armor penn, he could go tanky damage and still be strong.

Rockman2 votes

idk

I've always felt the reason Triforce was a good first buy on him was because you didn't HAVE to crit to start clearing caster waves out. You'll probably just have to buy another crit item on him, making Toplane GP quite a bit squishier if you want more reliable damage.

I don't mind that.

Gp? MORE nerfs? there are champs they claim to be PERFECT and balanced right now sitting at 55% winrate. 51/52% GEE, no one plays him anymore other me and maybe a few others out there. Most of that data is still sitting there from back before any nerfs and he was played like crazy.

Gp MAY need buffs, you never know, as again, a lot of people dont paly him anymore and this data needs to cycle through to show a more accurate outcome. couple weeks the data will feel it and he might end up with a 48% winrate.

Time will only tell.

AramsAreBest1 votes

Using stats from plat + does not represent the entire player base

WoonStruck2 votes

So you're saying we should balance for the lowest common denominator?

AramsAreBest1 votes

No you should try your best to balance for all of the playerbase.

FalconPawwwwnch1 votes

because the rest of the playerbase matters

AramsAreBest1 votes

Can't tell if sarcastic but I'm going to assume you are. If so then that's pretty arrogant saying just because of someone's rank they don't matter.

hOrnn1 votes

just sayn, riot did an amazing rework on gp, and I see no reason to ruin it with nerfs.

HotChilly1 votes

GP will lose 20% crit, after sheen, crit is the foundation of GP, this will be a substantial hit to GP's power. I expect a drop of 3-5 % winrate. Its ok though GP has been a good pick for a long time, so he can sit in the dumpster for a couple months and see buffs way down the line to come back and be good, its just the cycle of league. I do wish some champs were forced to be a part of the cycle though
