In defense of Cassiopeia's new passive...

... She really can use the new item slot, because as anyone who's played Cass can tell you, she's definitely one of the mages that makes you feel like you don't have enough inventory slots.

Think about Cassiopeia on life. You need mana sustain, so you have to rush a item 3003 /item 3027 . Or BOTH.

But, you also need item 3116 's because you need the slow to kite and chase and you need item 3135 like any other mage for the MPen and you need item 3089 to compliment her AP stacking passive and you need to buy boots item 3020 too.

...

item 3003 item 3116 item 3089 item 3135 item 3020 . You have one free item slot now, probably for a item 3157 .

In all honestly, Riot Repertoir goes the extra mile to discuss with players sometimes about what they want in their champions. He was assigned Cassiopeia's rework, probably the toughest of the bunch considering her divided fanbase, for a reason.

Not to mention, kiting has always been core to Cassiopeia's gameplay, so the passive fits well enough.

Let's not be too hasty with our judgements now. ._.

Well all this will do is make her weaker late game. My late late game build was item 3285 item 3040 item 3089 item 3116 item 3135 item 3151 I always just sell boots for ludens late game. Except with her old passive she would have around 1400 AP with this and still 370+ movespeed. Now she'll get decent movespeed but only like 900 AP with the same build.

Hm... I see.

But, Cassiopeia's base damages and ratios were nerfed during her rework. And with how bad they are, I hope Riot would at least Cassi's base damages and scalings. Then again, there's no guarantee that her numbers will be increased enough to make up the damage fully. :P

Yeah, all I'm saying is that she'll be weaker. She loses that 25% CDR / 400 extra AP. Her E is going on a higher cooldown. Besides the "grounded" effect on W she's basically staying the same other than that.
