Buff Runaan's Hurricane

I feel like this item could use a new active effect. Considering the hurricane theme either Yasuo's "Sweeping Blade" or Syndra's "Scatter the weak" could make good examples for fitting active effects. (Blowing enemies up / away)

Personally I prefer the Syndra like knockback with a gust animation. New active: Knocks back enemies. The distance of the knockback increases depending on how close the affected units are upon cast. Cooldown: 60s

A knockback would be way too strong. It would be a must have on ADCs since they would be able to self peel.

Take off one of the daggers, and add Zeal to the build order. Give it movespeed, crit, and less attack speed. Slightly reduce the damage of the extra bolts, down to 50 or 40% from 60%. Now it competes with Phantom Dancer and Statikk Shiv for the 'attack speed and crit' item spot, with an 'in hit' niche for champions like Twitch and Varus, while Statikk Shiv is the 'burst' niche for it's critting passive, and Phantom Dancer is the 'dueling' niche, with the most raw stats and being able to move through units (minions won't get in your way).

Also, let the extra bolts apply Ashe's slow if it doesn't already.

great evaluation, and I believe the extra bolts apply ashe's q, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it does.

It does. They apply on-hits such as Varus W, Twitch passive, and Ashe Q.

It's 10+50% AD currently, and the side bolts don't crit.

Adding Crit would at least make it scale better on Marksmen, but I don't think it would need the damage scaling nerfed.

It applies Twitchs ult and works with Jinx rockets. That means for both of them it does crit. The fact they still do not build it much at higher level play says a lot.

It works with Jinx's rockets, but it doesn't apply Twitch's ultimate. Not the piercing missile part, anyway. It does fire at longer range during his ultimate, because Runaan's is programmed to work like Tiamat, except just targeting the two enemies closest to the main target of the basic attack.

And no, it does not Crit. Jinx is the closest to having the best use of Runaan's, because she can theoretically deal 220% of her AD to 3 targets if they're clustered together. Adding in a crit, 330% or 385% depending on when she has IE. But the side bolts never crit.

I still feel like this is the best way to go about it. I like this idea so much, I just wish I could get a rioter in to take a glance at this portion of the argument.

it's a niche item, that doesn't mean it isn't powerful, it just means it doesn't fill what the player desires on the champ. Most people who are ranged fall into one of two groups, they are either ADC's or Mages. ADC's want crit, thus static and PD, Mages want ap, thus Rabadon's or hourglass. The niche ones like varus, twitch, kayle, etc are the ones you will see it on SOMETIMES, not everytime. still it doesn't mean it isn't powerful, it just means it isn't what is desired for their build.

Sightless661 votes

The thing is, it isn't really desired for anyone's build. Twitch and Varus are the ones who it would theoretically be a good fit for, and you still never see it built by either of them at high level play. It doesn't work with what their jobs often are (kiting one person), and it does not function well with crit. Both of these are highly negative traits. The only champions who use it at high level play are Kayle and rarely Teemo. Just the AP on-hit autoattackers.

As an item, it isn't powerful. It could theoretically be powerful if an on-hit build worked for champions other than AP on-hit autoattackers, but right now it just doesn't.

it is currently very strong, if it needs a buff it just needs to be a buff to the secondary projectiles. Maybe a slightly higher damage percentage or something like that, but not really in need of anything else.

I have not seen a single person building it during all the championship matches I watched, nor ingame.

If anything, crit needs to be removed. High damage items are enough, let alone the fact that you can also crit on those high damage items. There is no need for items like runaans when you can just crit individual champs down. and no, twitch isn't a niche champ, but runaans is a niche item on him. as for vayne, no she doesn't do well with runaans because her silver bolts only stacks on one target at a time, but twitch varus, kayle, and even teemo can stack it on other champs at the same time.

If you were going to do anything to hurricane change it so that it has a similar effect to nashors tooth. Then it would be strong for what it does. Nashors could be the melee form of what it does and hurricane could be the ranged form of it. that would fix the issue of it being a niche item and create build options for someone other than the adc's.

What if, instead of applying a CC like knockback/up, it would create a gust of wind that blows dust in a cone towards the target, blinding any enemy caught for a short time? While it wouldn't provide meaningful self-peel, it would be useful for dueling enemy ADC's so would still be a niche pick and not required. Maybe.

are we talking like teemo blind, or more like graves blind...either would be good and sounds interesting but the graves one would be funner.

How on earth can you call GTwitch a nieche champ? He's one of the most popular and successful picks during the WC. And he's definitely not using hurricane. Neither is Kayle.

If it did have an active, I think the best thing would be a non damaging knockback, so like Syndra's scatter the weak, but no damage. A knockback is pretty strong for an item active all by itself.

So, you're saying you would like ADCs to never be touched by a bruiser or assassin that isn't named Akali again.

That IS where this would go. If an assassin jumps in, or a bruiser miraculously manages to reach the ADC, the ADC would just press a button to be untouchable. I know a lot of ADCs have too much self peel already, but do you really want them to have more?

junglerboy161 votes

I'm not saying it should, I'm saying that if any of the options proposed were implemented, I think that would be the one to use. I was thinking strictly from what would work thematically (hurricane made me think knock back). To be honest, I agree that ADCs are already strong enough and it is plenty difficult to close on one, so they don't need or deserve an item like this.

Impling adc's need another itemization buff. Are u high OP?

AbyssionKnight1 votes

If they wanted to make hurricane better, they'd just need to change the stats it provides.

It doesn't matter how good your active is if your item isn't slot efficient.

Currently the item is inferior to pd or shiv, and while the concept of it is cool, it doesnt provide you with enough to feel worth replacing a pd or shiv with a hurricane.

I say let critical attacks make the bolt damage increase from 60 percent to 90 or 100% AD. Now hear me out. An ADC needs the following

AD Lifesteal Crit ArPen Attack Speed Defense

Assuming a high dmg build like IE + PD + LW + boots, it leaves only 2 items. Usually a defense item is added so say a Banshee Veil/Guardian Angel. Last item would be a lifesteal item. But depending on choice, that'd mean less attack speed or less damage.

It's a tricky balance. One that they must trade something for the other and losing one would mean they'd have a weakness. Be it less crit, less single target damage, less/no lifesteal, less tank damage (from ArPen), less attacks (attack speed) or less defense.

But Runnan doesn't add anything special to the mix. Why would I want to deal AoE damage when my AoE damage isn't that great at prioritizing and neither is it a Anyways adding Runnan as a viable path would make ADC's think even harder about what to build. Think about it. Assuming each ADC already has a dorans blade.

Do I deal great AoE damage (Doran/IE//Runnan/Statikk)in exchange for the ability to be able to kill a single target well (Doran/IE/LW/PD)? Or do I do both damage and good tank damage and deal less overall damage (IE/BorK/LW)? Or am I a muramana ADC (Muramana/TF - IBG/Reaver)? Or am I a Vayne ADC (BorK/Statikk/LW)? Or am I a HIGH AD Caster ADC (Essence Reaver + BT + BC) ? Or am I an ADC who needs high attack speed with sustain but less single target damage (IE + BorK + Runnan) Or am I looking to deal with high armored target? (BorK + Yoummu + LW) Do I need extra mobility when dealing single target damage? ( IE + Youmuu + BorK) Do I need heavy sustain while dealing respectable damage? (BT + BorK + LW)

Now this is a 3 item build (4 if you include boots and 5 if the ADC builds a defensive item which could last for 40 mins)
