I decided to take a look at Zeds defense stats vs other assassin defensive stats

Zed has HEALTH 579 – 1939 ARMOR 26.9 – 86.4 MAGIC RES. 32.1 – 53.4

Kha zix has HEALTH 573 – 2018 ARMOR 27.0 – 78.0 MAGIC RES. 32.1 – 53.4

Talon has HEALTH 583 – 2028 ARMOR 26.9 – 86.4 MAGIC RES. 32.1 – 53.4

Rengar has HEALTH 586 – 2116 ARMOR 25.9 – 85.4 MAGIC RES 32.1 – 53.4

So as we can see here Talon Technically has the "Highest all around defense stats"

Zed has the lowest base HP amongst them but is tied in Armor and MR with Talon

Kha'Zix has the lowest Armor but his Base Hp isn't so bad

Rengar has the Highest Base HP and Armor only slightly less then Zed and Talon

This is the comparison that should be being made, not comparing him to a tank with innate shields and tanky builds.

What i don't get is people saying he has the best defensive stats in his class,which is untrue the best overall is Talon

Which makes sense, as Talon has no way out, so he has more innate durability (small as that is) then the other classes with more mobility or actual heals (Rengar)

Most people saying anything about Zed don't make sense.

And no inevitable downvoters, I don't play Zed. I don't even own the guy, and have never played him.

He does have an "escape" with his E its just extremely unreliable and gimmicky

Have you played Zed or seen a competent player with Zed? His E is absolutely a solid escape when used for that and his R was redesigned specifically to be able to be reactivated and used as a disengage.

Ya Akali and Talon are the ones with higher stats because they don't have innate tankiness or reliable escapes and once they're in then they're in. I think Akali has slightly more hp than Talon and slightly less armor.

Alkali probably has less stats because of innate Spell Vamp

While this is interesting, what's the point of it? Armor/MR don't mean nearly as much as HP does early game, and late they matter only if you're building health.

It's a counter to one of the threads on the hot page comparing Zed's defensive stats to Shen's, which isn't a valid comparison.

I'm guessing this only counts AD assasins....because obviously the one with more natural tankyness due to her lack of disengage is Diana but I guess she is considered a figther now

She was actually supposed to be an AP scrapper, but people turned her into an assassin, and Riot's kind stuck with it. Basically she's the reverse Ekko, who was made to be an assassin but ended up being a tanky fighter.

He still is an Assassin,just having an MR and Armor boost doesn't instantly classed as a bruiser

Anyways he can still delete people with ease

deleting people with ease does not make you an assassin.

its partly about the method of delivery and frankly, that heavily conditional 550 range jump and reliance on sheer tankyness to escape is not becoming of an assassin. That's why rengar is weak whenever fighters are, he s is a fighter. The armor and MR boost along with the self heal also don't help.
