You play so good, make decent plays, dodge crazy skillshots, out play and come out of lane 5-0, only to lose because your mid, top, or bot fed 7 more kills. At the end of the game you not only feed defeated, exhausted, but also cheated. If only your individual merits counted for ANYTHING in this game. In any pro sports, stats are tracked, players are traded between teams. Players are ranked on their individual skill, regardless if they won a superbowl, stanley cup, NBA or World Series championship. Wish somehow Riot did the same when it came to moving up in ranks.
