Redemption or knights vow on J4 top?

I've been entertaining the idea of trying either of these out on J4 top. Not sure which would work better and/or when to build them.

Redemption: the active synergizes really well with his ultimate - if an immobile doesn't use flash I'll be nuking them for 10% max health AND healing myself. I also have been running some mana Regen in masteries over executioner (3 and 2 split) and could go back to damage with the mana Regen from this item. J4 also has a shield to make use of the passive, and i try to hit 45% cdr which this giving 10% on top of 20% from tf/cleaver and 10% scaling cdr runes would work out. Obviously I'm still rushing black cleaver against a tanky team and trinity force against a squishy team, but when would i build this? I think second would make it great for Lane sustain and early duels, but I'd give up too much early tankiness. As a fifth item after cleaver/boots /dead man's/titanic seems reasonable?

Knight's vow : Seems like an awesome choice if i have a fed ally to generate massive healing for me. It unfortunately seems to go counter to my normal hp-stacking titanic build (as resistances would scale better with the healing) but it could still work. The idea is that despite being the tank I'm often focused hard when i dive the back line - so i won't take extra damage from the transfer but will get healed. If i do take damage then I'm helping the carry. I think I'd need more stats before building this - so fifth like above or even sixth with another defensive item (GA, banshees, randuins, etc..?). However I'd be short 10% CDR here unless i went warmogs or got blue buff (i do tend to steal blue buff a decent amount to be fair).

Any thoughts? May either of these work well on J4?

I've tried out the knights vow thing since im a jungle main.

I usually ask the top laner if he wants to build knights for me, and i'd build it for him. Crappy thing is that you have to build it as a 3rd or 4th item, and by that time a lot of people, including me, forget about the plan. But i've tried it before and i'm actually not even sure if it works like that. I hope it does though.

Knight's Vow would only be decent when around an ally, which as a top laner isn't often. Redemption would only be funny in your ult, and nothing more.

I suppose if you're absolutely destroying and want to disrespect you could try these, but there will never be a "good" time to build them.

Well in the late game j4 is a teamfight monster since he can engage pretty much any fight he wants. Idk the range on vow though - if i go too far ahead it could cost me. Also relying on a specific teammate may not be great - but if i only get it with a really fed adc/mid I'd benefit a lot from their lead while giving them more room to carry, right? Of course assuming the support doesn't build it.

Redemption is probably better left to the support i guess, with the range he can throw it in my ult.

There are definitely some scenarios where it would work with a fed carry. But the second you leave to split push or anything you immediately lose a huge chunk of armor. I guess if you're confident enough in the guy you're using it on the benefits might outweigh it, but for me being that much weaker out of range doesn't seem worth.

Don't get knights vow.

Get redemption if you already have dmg and tankyness finished (so build 5th of 6th item) and you are rolfstomping the enemys face in. It synergizes well enough to work (CoC shield, w shield bonus and the active is bless for healing your team) and to show you disrespecting the ennemy. In a proper game you just get a ga, zzrot, literally any other tank item would probably be more beneficial.

The problem with the idea of going item 3109 is that there is a significant cooldown between switching targets with it. A support will pretty much always have it on the ADC so it isn't such a big deal, but a Top laner might want to be more flexible in who to choose and you can't really do that...

item 3107 on the other hand sounds hilarious when used with his ultimate like that. I wouldn't really go for either, but if I had to pick I'd get that.
