Jesus you people are disgusting. Doran's Shield in it's current state is equally idiotic on Yasuo, Fiora or Riven, all of which are 100% melee.
In your ideal, dreamed-of exclusively fighter vs fighter toplane, Doran's Shield fighter is also almost guaranteed to win lane vs fighter with any other starter.
Basically any champion that doesn't use a lot of mana benefits too much of it.
Not everything bad in this game happens because your kite-able champion got kited.
